Clintons Upset Weiner Hijinx Staining Their Wholesome Reputation

When you have an ugly sexting scandal tarnishing a sterling reputation built up over decades it’s just too much to stand  by idly and have your good name dragged through the mud. So Bill and Hillary Clinton have decided they’ve had enough of their good friends Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin using their pristine image while trying to stay viable politically.

Bill and Hillary Clinton are angry with efforts by mayoral hopeful Anthony Weiner and his campaign to compare his Internet sexcapades — and his wife Huma Abedin’s incredible forgiveness — to the Clintons’ notorious White House saga, The Post has learned.

“The Clintons are upset with the comparisons that the Weiners seem to be encouraging — that Huma is ‘standing by her man’ the way Hillary did with Bill, which is not what she in fact did,’’ said a top state Democrat.

Wait, what? Hillary didn’t play the hapless doormat and stand by her man? Are we missing something here? If we recall correctly, she went on 60 Minutes to bail him out in 1992 when the Gennifer Flowers affair came to light and when the name Monica Lewinsky emerged in 1998 weakly claimed it was all part of a Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy. Are we missing something here?

Weiner and his campaign aides have explicitly referred to the Clintons as they privately seek to convince skeptical Democrats that voters can back Weiner despite his online sexual antics — just as they supported then-President Bill Clinton in the face of repeated allegations of marital betrayals.

“The Clintons are pissed off that Weiner’s campaign is saying that Huma is just like Hillary,’’ said the source. “How dare they compare Huma with Hillary? Hillary was the first lady. Hillary was a senator. She was secretary of state.”

In 1992 she was the First Lady of Arkansas, not the United States. How soon they forget. Oh, and do they want to remind us about her disastrous turn as Secretary of State?

A longtime Hillary aide and Clinton friend, Abedin’s surprisingly unequivocal support of her husband after his bombshell admission Tuesday that he engaged in salacious online sexting well after he resigned in disgrace from Congress in 2011 left the Clintons stunned, continued the source.

“Hillary didn’t know Huma would do this whole stand-by-your-man routine, and that’s one of the reasons the Clintons are distancing themselves from all this nonsense,’’ the source said.

These two grifters are complaining about nonsense? We’ve endured two decades of their nonsense, but all of a sudden it’s beneath their refined taste? Please.

Worried about the potential impact on Hillary’s likely run for president in 2016, the political power couple has begun aggressively distancing itself from the crippled mayoral contender, according to sources.

Meanwhile, at least one prominent Hillary Rodham Clinton political operative was described as close to “going public’’ with a sharp criticism of Weiner — in order to send the message that the Clintons, fearing longtime damage to Hillary, want him out of the mayor’s race. (That would be someone other than former Clinton White House Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers, who said yesterday that she was sure the Clintons wanted Weiner out of the race.)

Translation: They don’t give a rat’s ass about Weiner and Abedin. It’s all about Hillary’s political viability. So forget the fact they hosted Weiner and Abedin’s wedding and Bill officiated it. It’s in the process of being purged from public memory, so move along and return to slobbering over Hillary, you rubes. The way they’re reacting it seems Weiner left a bigger stain on them than Bill did on Monica’s dress.

JFK had his share of “extra” and was ‘sainted’ by history. Clinton at least tried to do the same and he was defended by nearly all in the Democratic Party. By comparison, Weiner has offended the least. So why is he being judged by a much harsher standard?

Unfortunately this is a principled response by the Democrats. They ask themselves “What can he do for me?” In the case of Weiner, he can’t do much for Democrats not in New York so no one has any reason to defend him. Democrats in New York firgure they can hold the Mayor’s office without him. If he was in the White House, this would all be “Nobody’s business” and a “Phony Scandal”.
