Classy: Gun Control Freaks Feature Ronald Reagan in New Ad

Posted by on Mar 29, 2013 at 9:02 am

Goodness, these people are shameless. Not content to dance on the graves of the Newtown dead, they’re now featuring Ronald Reagan in an ad. As if this is supposed to move us or something.

This is courtesy of the fine folks at  ‘UNRA,‘ or The United Network of Rational Americans. So if you don’t agree with them, you’re just not rational.

These same people spent the entire 1980s talking about how stupid Ronald Reagan was and entire 1990s talking about how senile Ronald Reagan was.

This Reagan quote, from 1991, would have been from Reagan’s “senile” phase, according to Our Betters on the Left.

We are gun owners, supporters of the 2nd Amendment, and among the 88%+ of Americans who support the rationality of closing ridiculous loopholes that allow criminals and people with dangerous mental disturbances to get guns without background checks. I think it’s pretty clear that if there are any “freaks” in the gun equation, it is most likely you.

    Have a nice day :)

UNRA sounds like a standard stealth “conservative” organization, based on that comment. I would love to keep *everyone* who has any bad intent – whether it’s rational or not – from getting their hands on *anything* that could help them implement that bad intent. But, we live in this thing called the Real World, where it just isn’t possible to stop everything bad. So, we have to balance benefits against risks. The risk of your answer (background checks for everyone) is that the government quickly accrues knowledge of where every weapon is. Sorry, but, given the tendency toward tyranny in the government, I have no desire to give them *any* information about my exercise of my Constitutional rights.

Classy continued via UNRA. Someone disagrees with you and you right off the bat call them a “freak.”

FYI, Background checks and waiting periods have been a part of gun purchases since 1968 (Mental health being the original barrier). Adam Lanza, in fact, attempted to purchase a firearm prior to the shooting incident and was denied as a result of a background check. Thus, he stole his mom’s guns instead. The system already works.

The only reason James Wilson was able to purchase his weapons is because several individuals with knowledge of his situation refused to have him diagnosed as mentally disturbed. Even an “enhanced’ background check would not have flagged him.

James Loughner stole/borrowed a gun from a relative/friend – again, nothing that a background check could have done anything about.

Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Hasan, was in the military and therefore had access to a rifle. He had known instability issues but superior officers approving his various promotions refused to include that information in their recommendations. So, again, the background check would have been uninformative.

Seung-Hui Cho, the Va Tech killer, should have been on the federal firearms list, but several entities, including VAT itself, strove to keep his disturbed background secret. After that shooting in 2007, Congress passed a bill closing further loopholes in background checks.

The Columbine kids, of course, stole their parent’s guns.

So, tell us, which of these tragedies would have been prevented by the current proposed legislation?

Reagan was shot by a .22 caliber revolver, a weapon that would not have been banned or otherwise affected by the Brady Law. Additionally, background checks as currently constituted would have been impossible in 1981, the technology didn’t exist.

Beware 100% of assholes quoting statistics. ‘Specially when they presume to speak in “support” of a right when actually working their little Commie butts off behind the scenes to crush those rights. Lookin’ at you, Mumm-Ra.

The UNRA is just another attempt by gun-grabbers to pretend that they are 2nd amendment supporters.

Tell us exactly how do you plan on closing the “shoot your mother in the face and take her guns” loophole that Lanza used?

I’m working overtime with millions of other pro 2A folks to rollback some of the laws that have previously been put in place. Now is just as good as time as ever to get more freedom back into our hands. While the gun grabbers are working to make new laws, I’m working to loosen things back to where the 2A says we really should be.

As it happened, John Hinckley, Jr. ALREADY HAD a .38 revolver when he bought the .22 he used to shoot at Reagan (he didn’t actually hit Reagan; Reagan was hit by a ricochet); if a background check had been able to stop his purchase of the .22, he almost certainly would have used the .38, and Reagan probably would have died, along with James Brady. But that doesn’t fit the narrative.
