Chicagoland: “They ripped out chunks of my hair, and I’ve got a black eye and bruises on my face”

Michelle Obama plans to address youth violence in Chicago next week. She may want to move that up on the schedule after the mayhem this weekend when marauding punks terrorized shoppers.

A 27-year-old woman said she was returning home with her mother Saturday night on the Red Line after a dim sum dinner when a group of girls got on the train at the Monroe station and appeared to want to pick a fight.

“This girl started blowing smoke in my face, and she flicked her cigarette ashes at me,” said the woman, who asked not to be identified. “I said: ‘You need to put that out,’ and the next thing I know there’s all these girls that jumped on top of us.”

They began punching her face and then went for her hair. She believes their attackers had knives or box cutters and padlocks possibly placed inside socks.

“I put my head down between my legs so they would stop beating me in the face, but they were trying to pull my face up and hit me more,” she said. “They ripped out chunks of my hair, and I’ve got a black eye and bruises on my face, and all over my back and shoulder.”

The 11 teenagers arrested in that incident at the CTA’s State/Lake station in the Loop about 6:35 p.m. were among a total of 28 people arrested downtown Saturday night for disturbances that ranged from bumping into passers-by on sidewalks to the attack on the CTA train, authorities said.

If these idiots in Chicago want to see tourism evaporate, just keep sticking your heads in the sand.

At one point there were more than 150 teenagers moving down Michigan Avenue and side streets causing the disturbances.

By the time the fight was broken up, 15 juveniles and two adults were arrested, police said.

All were charged with one count of misdemeanor reckless conduct, police said.

It was the first warm night in a while and police believe that could have played a role in why so many teens gathered on Michigan Avenue. A mob-style environment developed and police were forced to shut down streets near Chicago and Wabash.

Aside from the group fighting amongst themselves, there were no additional assaults, robberies or reports of property damage, police said.

In the words of one police officer at the scene, “It’s the same thing we saw last summer; mobs of young people causing problems.”

Mobs of young people? Call them what they are — animals. Meanwhile, two people were murdered and 23 wounded in gun violence this past weekend. Keep reminding us why law-abiding gun owners should be disarmed, OK?

Quoting the article: “It’s the same thing we saw last summer; mobs of young people causing problems”

Summer?! It’s barely spring and these thugs are already acting up. This summer, I predict its going to be pure nightmare in the Windy City.

One count of misdemeanor reckless conduct – the attack on the Red Line could easily have turned lethal. A thug can swing a “sap” like the one described with enough force to cause skull fractures. Even a bar of soap can be lethal when used this way, let alone a padlock.
Now it’s hardly clear that the misdemeanor charge was filed against the attackers on the Red Line — they may not have been arrested at all and it can be hard to make a case stick.
These incidents are common enough and scary enough to be a real barrier to using mass transit if there are alternatives. I used to ride buses in Germany pretty often and less serious incidents would occur a couple of times a year.

Hey Biden’s tactic of firing off 2 shotgun shells into the air (or thru the door) would have stopped this group quick.

    Well this is what happens…

The right side of the political spectrum completely ignored half of the electorate. That half has been transformed by the left side of the political spectrum into this.

Bullshit. The message from the “right side” has basically been, freedom and opportunity. Just because the right side hasn’t been playing the race card doesn’t mean that they are “ignoring” anyone.

And “compassionate consveratism” wasn’t “ignoring” half of the electorate. Not that any credit was given. The left openly said that they hated admitting that Boooooooooosh did more for AIDs relief than the lovely left
