“And so the kinds of things that there’s an emerging set of recommendations, not coming from me but coming from the groups we’ve met with,” said Biden today, before a closed door meeting on gun control. “And I’m going to focus on the ones that relate primarily to gun ownership and the type of weapons can be owned. And one is, there is a surprising — so far — a surprising recurrence of suggestions that we have universal background checks. Not just close the gun show loophole but total, universal background checks, including private sales.”

This action requires legislation. There’s no authority for a presidential executive order and no way to set up a mechanism for this without legislation.
I don’t know what share of gun sales occur between law-abiding individuals. I own a shotgun that I bought from a member of my shooting club and a revolver that I bought at a gun show — also, it turns out, from a member of our club but that was coincidental.
When I may want to sell these guns, I’d like to offer them in the club first. Obviously that’s what Biden and people like him want to prevent.

Outlawing private gun sales will not prevent private gun sales it will just make it impossible for the government to track the sales. Oh and people won’t inform the government they own a gun, they just will ah the magic of the gun fairy it was always here. It must have been left by the previous owner, etc. I found it just lying in the street.
