It’s clear-thinking, rational behavior like this why Detroit is the urban economic model for cities across the USA. Oh, wait…
The Detroit City Council on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution calling for a federal investigation to see whether civil rights charges are warranted against George Zimmerman, who was acquitted July 13 of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges in the killing of Florida teen Trayvon Martin.
The resolution, sponsored by Councilwoman JoAnn Watson, sparked a discussion over the need for city leaders and others to focus more on violence in Detroit.
Indeed, as with Chicago and many other cities, their problems lie within, not with some allegedly racist bogeyman a thousand miles away. Meanwhile, the family rescued by George Zimmerman last week canceled a planned press conference today after thinking things over. Probably all the death threats they’re getting from the forces of tolerance for not dying in Zimmerman’s arms.
A family authorities say George Zimmerman helped rescue from a rollover SUV crash in Seminole County last week will not hold a press conference today.
But Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara, addessed reporters who gathered at his office in downtown Orlando.
The family Zimmerman helped rescue originally wanted to talk, but rethought that decision after speaking with family and friends, O’Mara said.
“He (Zimmerman) happened to be in the right place at the right time.”
