Between Chris Matthews, Lawrence O’Donnell and other primetime stars at MSNBC, apparently they just didn’t have enough craziness. So why not add an angry racist like Alec Baldwin? Should do wonders for their anemic ratings.
Liberal gasbag Alec Baldwin will soon have a new forum to vent his rage — a weekly prime-time show on the left-leaning cable network MSNBC, according to a new report.
The Web site Mediaite said yesterday it learned from a highly placed source in the cable-news industry that the volatile actor’s so-far untitled show will air on Fridays at 10 p.m. and “feature a large dose of Baldwin’s outspoken liberal politics.”
The new job would be the latest gig in the former “30 Rock” star’s long association with the NBC network.
He’s been a frequent guest host on “Saturday Night Live,” and also hosted the NBC’s Live Earth concert in 2007.
Baldwin’s pugnacious personality — including frequent bouts with the media — and reliably “progressive” views on politics would also make him a natural fit for MSNBC — often derided by conservative pundits as “MSLSD.”
He would join fellow talking heads Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell, whose show now airs in the 10 p.m. slot Mondays through Thursdays.
So the Baldwin show would not displace any of the network’s top names, just a prison-documentary series that now runs Fridays at 10.
Another outburst on the streets of Manhattan might just land him in prison. Some folks on Twitter helpfully suggest some names for the racist homophobe’s show.
