Jay, it was others making the hoodie now symbolic of something shady or righteous, depending on your politics. How to distinguish when so many national figures declared hoodie fashion a statement of Trayvon solidarity and then donned them out of protest and politics?
If a national furor over the death of a Marxist hispanic resulted in supporters wearing berets, would it be considered unremarkable if the Prez who spoke out in favor of the marxist hispanic continued to sell the same kind of berets for campaign monies?
You say it would constitute marketing as usual, while others contend it would be a capitalization upon a political idea due to the moment’s context, since they realize how important designated symbols are to political and cultural consumers, on account of being told so, often, and to include in this instance.

Just so we’re clear, the colored male in Sanford, FL was not killed because he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt. That colored male was killed because he attacked someone.
