A spokeswoman for Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren says the man who repeatedly swatted at a camera held by a Republican staff member is not a Warren staffer but a taxi driver Warren’s campaign had hired.
“The person featured in the video was not a member of the Elizabeth Warren for Massachusetts staff. He is a cab driver,” said Julie Edwards, Warren’s communications director, in an email.
How many “taxi drivers” tool around in giant gas-guzzling SUV’s that look conspicuously like a campaign vehicle?
They’re just compounding the problem since someone will dime this guy out and we’ll find out who he is. But the damage is done. By the way, what’s Loony Lizzie’s carbon footprint with that vehicle?
MassGOP denounced the video, claiming “a campaign aide for Elizabeth Warren physically assaulted and threatened an employee of the Massachusetts Republican Party.” MassGOP claimed the man threw a punch and demanded Warren “address this situation” and prevent it from happening again.
“As Professor Warren falls further behind in the polls, we expect that she will become more negative toward (U.S. Sen.) Scott Brown. However, that should not be an excuse for her staff to lash out in violence,” GOP Executive Director Nate Little said in a statement. “
Update: The plot thickens.
