Ted Kaczynski Updates His Harvard Profile

I’m thinking maybe the Unabomber should have updated his Harvard profile to say he was part Cherokee, just to bust balls.

Ted Kaczynski — the domestic terrorist known as the Unabomber, who is serving life in prison for sending deadly mail bombs — will not be able to attend his 50th class reunion at Harvard College. But he did contribute a bizarre entry to the alumni report for the class of 1962.

While many of his classmates sent in lengthy updates on their lives for the 2½-inch-thick “red book,” the entry for Theodore John Kaczynski contains only nine lines.

The listing says his occupation is “prisoner,” and his home address is “No. 04475-046, US Penitentiary — Max, P.O. Box 8500, Florence, CO 8126-8500.”

Under the awards section, the listing says, “Eight life sentences, issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, 1998.”

He lists one publication under his name, “Technological Slavery,” published by Feral House in 2010. In addition, he indicates that he lived in Eliot House, a student residence at Harvard.

I wonder if he mentioned what his favorite book is?

Kaczynski’s name was also included in a state-by-state listing of the alumni at the back of the book.

The widow of one of Kaczynski’s victims said she was “disappointed in Harvard.”

Susan Mosser — widow of Thomas Mosser, a 50-year-old advertising executive who was killed in December 1994 when a package exploded in the kitchen of their New Jersey home — said: “Kaczynski is a con artist. He’s a serial killer; he’s a murderer. . . . Everything is a game for him to push people’s buttons.”

She said she thinks that if Harvard did not publish Kaczynski’s information, he would have tried to sue the school for excluding it.

A Harvard Alumni Association spokesman confirmed that Kaczynski submitted the entry and said it was considered to be within the guidelines set for the book, which is titled, “Harvard and Radcliffe Classes of 1962 — Fiftieth Anniversary Report.”

If Kaczynski was a “rightwing extremist” instead of a leftist, would Harvard update his profile? Just wondering.

But Yale computer science professor David Gelernter had a different take on the entry.

“It’s very chilling,” Gelernter said. “He’s an unrepentant terrorist murderer who cut people, and slashed people to death in their kitchens, leaving them to bleed, while he hid in a shack somewhere in the West. So for some institution to lend authority to him, well, I can’t believe such things happen in the United States.”

I am dissapointed that the publishers did not refuse to accept ol’ Ted’s submissions. I am more annoyed at the insensetive comments from his 1962 classmates. sense of humor indeed!

“it was considered to be within the guidelines set for the book”

Which speaks volumes as to the quality of the guidelines. If your book allows comments from serial killers, your book and the people who put it together suck.

Hey hold on… didn’t he get his manifesto published in the Washington Post? Why isn’t that listed?

I honestly don’t think this is a big deal. He’s not lying, he’s in prison and he’s reporting that fact honestly. If most of the Harvard bios are lengthy paragraphs of achievement, he’s submitted nine lines. He could have submitted another screed similar to what he had killed to get published. He could have tried to justify the death and misery his actions caused. Can you imagine that news story?

I personally think he’s tweaking Harvard a bit, showing them that not all of its spawn have gone on to fame and fortune. I also don’t think that we should automatically get offended every time he submits something that ends up in print.

Try reading the commments. We aren’t “offended”. Anyone who prints a line of crap from a serial killer when they don’t have to, is an idiot. Who cares if this maniac was part of the class? or even the one voted ‘most likely to take a life’? Send it to file 13 and move on.
