Slate Idiot: Obama Has Nothing to Do With Chicago Politics

Poor Obama. Just an innocent bystander who magically appeared out of Chicago.

Some Republicans seem to think Chicago politics is about brutal, slashing attacks on opponents—Al Capone with an ad budget. That’s what John Boehner was complaining about when he used the phrase in 2009 to describe the way the Obama administration was demonizing opponents of his health care bill, like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. But political aggression is hardly a distinctive Chicago trait. While American politics has never wanted for harsh negativity, the Chicago machine era predates media campaigns driven by sound bites and attack ads. The best modern exemplar of hardball politics is probably the late South Carolina political consultant Lee Atwater, who ran George H.W. Bush’s ugly 1988 presidential campaign.

So we’re not allowed to link Obama with Chicago, but this pinhead is still whining about Lee Atwater 20 years after his death.

And Obama’s cronyism, payoffs to political supporters, disregard of laws he doesn’t care for, and heavy-handed authoritarian rule via the bureaucracy aren’t reminiscent of Chicago politics in the least.

I’d say a guy who won all his races by eliminating opponents by hook or by crook is pretty well steeped in the Chicago Way.

Translation: Sewers exist in many parts of the US.

Nice strawman. People pointed out that obama is a thug, and that he’s a product of the Chicago machine, which prizes such behavior. So they answer that this isn’t limited to Chicago. So what? It doesn’t make the dear leader any less of a thug.So much for hope and change.

Meh, we elected a low level Chicago ward heeler of no accomplishment to the Presidency, and some are shocked when he turns out to be a SCoaMF.

All of Illinois politics is infected with Chicago and its corruption. Ask anyone downstate how much influence they have in Springfield.
