Shameless Exploitation: Bill O’Reilly Interviews Third-Grader From Newtown

For the life of me I cannot fathom the mindset of Bill O’Reilly, his producers or the mother of this child for airing an interview with a third-grade girl in the wake of the horrific event in Newtown, CT Friday. A child no doubt scarred and traumatized needs to be one place–at home trying to regain a sense of normalcy, not in front of TV lights reliving the horror.

So much of the media behavior Friday was shameful, from rushing to wrongly identify Ryan Lanza as the shooter before realizing it was his brother, to badgering people on Twitter for interviews, to shamelessly exploiting it to further their gun control agenda.

With so many covered in blood, too many rushed to cover themselves in mud. I thought O’Reilly knew better. I thought wrong. He should be ashamed of himself, if only he had a sense of shame.

Jammie, you echoed my thoughts exactly. I HAD to do a search to see if there was anyone else that thought this. I cannot get this out of my mind.
What were the producers,O’Reilly, and the mother thinking?
I still haven’t watched the interview because when I first saw the picture of the little girl and her mother I turned it off. What insight can this poor little girl offer? I am so sorry for the victims and the others close to them.
The news media keeps headlining a “search for answers” as to why this happened. I can answer it for them. “One insane son-of bitch killed 26 people for absolutely NO reason.”
All we can do now is pray for the victims, families, and friends.
Thank you Jammie for raising the question and concern I had.
