There’s still hope for us yet. Now these are preliminary numbers for Sunday night, but look at the 7 PM eastern time numbers for CBS, when the late Steelers-Raiders and Texans-Broncos games ran late (until 8:07, in fact, when 60 Minutes began airing). That show was promoted all day as featuring Mitt Romney and the failed president in interviews. So from the 7 to 8 PM hours, CBS then lost 8.4 million viewers.
Like most on the right, I don’t bother watching 60 Minutes to begin with and judging by the reactions today it was typical softball nonsense for Obama, going so far as to not even air anything that would reflect badly on him.
Then in the 8 PM timeslot, even the NBC warmup for the Patriots-Ravens game had better numbers than 60 Minutes, as well as the Hollywood Emmys egofest. The football numbers then surged as the game aired at 8:30.
In a related note, Obama surprisingly failed to win the Emmy for Best Actor in a Fictional Comedy.
