Report: Unmanned Drone Observed Benghazi Terror Attack, Did Nothing: “They stood and they watched and our people died”

Posted by on Oct 20, 2012 at 8:47 am

As the details of Obama’s cover-up slowly trickle out, we get the feeling by the time this is all done with we’ll find out Obama himself was personally observing the action in between fundraisers. Now we discover we had drone surveillance of the attack as it happened and did nothing. Maybe we were concerned about innocent civilians protesting a video getting hurt.

Oh, wait.

The closer we get to the election, the harder Republicans in Congress are pushing for answers to a big question: What really happened in the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya last month that killed the U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans?

Some lawmakers are asking why U.S. military help from outside Libya didn’t arrive as terrorists battered more than 30 Americans over the course of more than seven hours. The assault was launched by an armed mob of dozens that torched buildings and used rocket propelled grenades, mortars and AK-47 rifles.

CBS News has been told that, hours after the attack began, an unmanned Predator drone was sent over the U.S. mission in Benghazi, and that the drone and other reconnaissance aircraft apparently observed the final hours of the protracted battle.

The State Department, White House and Pentagon declined to say what military options were available. A White House official told CBS News that, at the start of the attack, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Martin Dempsey and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta “looked at available options, and the ones we exercised had our military forces arrive in less than 24 hours, well ahead of timelines laid out in established policies.”

But it was too late to help the Americans in Benghazi. The ambassador and three others were dead.

So we knew in real time what was happening and did nothing. We know that Chris Stevens pleaded for help on the day he was murdered and did nothing. Then Team Obama commenced with a coverup that is now falling apart and still nobody is accountable. But Obama takes “offense” when Mitt Romney dares to question him about it.

Retired CIA officer Gary Berntsen believes help could have come much sooner. He commanded CIA counter-terrorism missions targeting Osama bin Laden and led the team that responded after bombings of the U.S. Embassy in East Africa.

“You find a way to make this happen,” Berntsen says. “There isn’t a plan for every single engagement. Sometimes you have to be able to make adjustments. They made zero adjustments in this. They stood and they watched and our people died.”

Obama and his entire crew were well aware what was happening and conspired to blame a friggin’ video, for crying out loud. Yet Democrats simply do not care. Their own political fate far outweighs the lives of those murdered. But remember, they care about you or something.

What, no Carriers in the Med? Or Air Force in Italy? I am just totally disgusted that no effort was made to help those in the compound.

  2. rich b on 20/20/12 at 2:05 pm

Whatever they’re hiding it most be very very incriminating to the Omama people. Why else would they go to such great lengths to hide the truth? Something really nasty is afoot.

And I wonder if Omama’s last words will be “pardon me” when he exits the White House in January?

  3. Becca on 20/20/12 at 2:14 pm

They could’ve scrambled jets from Italy….if for no other reason than to get them the hell out of there!! Obama turned down the option of using the military when he was made aware of the ongoing attack 90 minutes after it began….I remember all of this being reported last month!!

  4. Elric on 20/20/12 at 3:14 pm

It looks kind of like we’re closing down our covert operations in Libya and moving them to Syria. We just took out one of Libya’s top al Qaeda jihadists with a drone, and they were duly enraged. To placate them, why not make a 9/11 anniversary present of our ambassador to the al Qaeda affilited Islamists?

  5. Nick Shaw on 20/20/12 at 3:30 pm

I’m sorry, this is the first I have heard of 30 Americans being involved in this muslim terrorist attack (I’ll say it even if he won’t!)
Where were all of these people?

  6. xkaydet65 on 20/20/12 at 4:09 pm

If there was a drone there is video. Subpoena it. The govt is quick to show off a drone strike when it kills some jihadi, let them come clean and show us what they were watching. As for 30 Americans and the presence of five State Dept security guys, where are their bodies? If they were tasked to protect Stevens their bodies should surround his like Shuggart’s and Gordon’s surrounded the downed Blackhawk.

Imagine that you are a parent or a spouse or a child of someone serving overseas right now at this very minute, and you know, YOU KNOW, that this dreadful Obama person and his cohorts would not lift a finger to assist you if you were under attack by terrorists.

They do not care if we live or die. They don’t care about our military. The don’t care about our foreign service personnel. The only thing they care about is holding onto their power. At all costs.

And we have people in harm’s way, at their direction, right this minute. God protect them. Lord knows this sorry excuse for a Commander in Chief won’t.

  8. Diplomad on 20/20/12 at 4:40 pm

I have been covering this scandal since day one. As a former FSO, I am horrified at the Obama misadministration’s inaction and cover up.

  9. wheatie on 20/20/12 at 4:46 pm

    This is major.
This needs to get out there!

Would there be video footage of the Drone serveillance?
I would think that there would be.

  10. Beth Donovan on 20/20/12 at 4:47 pm

Apparently, the perpetrators of this terrorist list were NOT on the Presidential Kill List.

I wonder if only those on said list are allowed to be defended against?

  11. suzpenn on 20/20/12 at 4:52 pm

Not to mention that . . . we are funding theses savages . . . in the words of the mother of one of the fallin Seals . They are savages . . . Kill them, Kill them all!

  12. Paratisi on 20/20/12 at 4:56 pm

This is why the reports of a “False Flag” or a “Wag The Dog” are gaining traction. When the IslamoFascists want to do anything they can to get their Beloved Blind Sheik back, with help from the muslim brotherhood, sooner or later the parallel desires, meet the Obama desire to kowtow to the brotherhoods will. The only way he could justify such a betrayal of the Victims, would be to trade, the Blind Murderer, for an Amb. held hostage!

    God Bless America!

  13. thom on 20/20/12 at 5:17 pm

So what are you saying? That the attack was planned and was supposed to end with the Ambassador being held hostage, traded for the blind sheik, everyone happy and the O smelling like a rose and re-elected? Somewhere the plan went wrong?

  14. thom on 20/20/12 at 5:19 pm

edit to above – so was that the October surprise? that like everything else the O touches, failed miserably?

  15. yeahum on 20/20/12 at 6:25 pm

The US government is the enemy of people everywhere. It is time to dissolve the union and let the states free themselves from the tyranny of the petty dictators and tyrants in Washington DC.

  16. Peter on 20/20/12 at 6:26 pm

Nick Shaw, four Americans were killed. There were other Americans in the Consulate that escaped with their lives, along with still more Americans in the Annex. I do not know the exactt numbers but thirty is certainly not unlikely.

So far American does not mean dead. There are forces working on that, though, and not all are overseas.

  17. M. Report on 20/20/12 at 6:31 pm

Oddly enough, the one datum that keeps popping up when
I consider this incredible mess is a historical reference to
‘Chinese’ Gordon, whose life and death parallel those of
Stevens to an uncomfortable degree. Who would conspire
to kill a man who was too good at what he did ?

  18. Clyde on 20/20/12 at 11:16 pm

Obamas is a muslim, what do you expect, to the USA he should be considered a Terrerist, not the senors, retired military, ex GI’s, Cristians and anyone who is not a Muslim. He has lied about almost every thing ask about him, schooling, birthplace, religion and has spent millions to keep it from the public. Read his books before the Elections, and if you understand what you read, you will vote him our of office.

  19. Mcoffey on 21/21/12 at 12:32 am

Thom, I believe your theory is sound. The only way Obama could release the “Blind Sheik” was through an exchange of a high value
American official being held prisoner by a group of jihadists. Interestingly, this group of jihadists just happen to have a history of kidnapping western foreigners for ransom to fund their jihadist activities. It went south, I believe, because our brave seals gave them the fight of their miserable lives, and they(jihadists) in turn used overwhelming firepower. Why was the Ambassador ‘s body taken from the burning building? Why were they screaming about him being alive on the video tape? Because, he was going to be their leverage for the sheik and that is why he was later taken to a hospital but it was to late. I hope congress and all Americans find out what really is being suppressed about this tragedy .

  20. Dawn on 21/21/12 at 8:29 am

Unfortunately, the idea that this was a kidnapping gone wrong actually fits in with the Administration’s actions and behavior afterwards. The 2 Seals were the unexpected that turned this into an actual fight. I’d like to know what their mission there was, I don’t believe it was security.

  21. firefirefire on 21/21/12 at 11:19 am

Two of the SEALs killed were in Libya to secure weapons made available to “Rebels” by the 0bama administration. I don’t know what kind of weapons but obama doesn’t want them traced back to him when they turn up in the weeds after being fired at an airport near you.
    “Pardon me” indeed.

  22. wales on 21/21/12 at 1:12 pm

Stevens knew too much. Gun running to Libyan rebel (aka Al Qaeda) and more nefarious intel.

Stevens was a necessary casualty of the New ME Caliphate.

  23. sauropod on 21/21/12 at 3:55 pm

I think it’s quite possible that the attackers wanted Stevens alive to use as a hostage/bargaining chip. This would account for their cries of praise to Allah when they found him alive. (The claim that they were genuinely concerned for his well-being is contradicted by the fact that they proceeded to haul him through the streets like a sack of garbage while taking cell-phone pix.)

However, I doubt that the Obama administration was complicit in any of this (except inadvertently, through incompetence). The last thing Obama needed was a Middle East hostage crisis. This would complete the comparison to Jimmy Carter and almost ensure his defeat at the polls. And trading the Blind Sheik for anyone, even an ambassador, would be unpopular as hell.

  24. tom on 21/21/12 at 9:11 pm

Obama got his 3 AM call and went to bed because he had to go to a fundraiser in Las Vegas later in the morning.

I am not a conspiracy theorist, but paratisi’s is good enough to make folks think about it.

  25. Cobacoba98 on 22/22/12 at 4:26 am

Marines have a special counter-terror team for embassies based in Spain.

If you create such a unit, wouldn’t you assume it could scramble within hours, otherwise what’s the point if it arrives 2 says later in Tripoli not Benghazi?

Also, Spain is not the far from Libya. Still, by the time they arrive, it would have been hours later.

And, I bet they want a week to plan to do anything.

So, cancel that unit, since its really not viable.

    Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team

    Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team

    Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team logo
    Active 1987–present
    Nickname “Gunslingers”
    Motto Anytime, Anyplace
Engagements USS Cole bombing, Operation Just Cause,Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm American Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania, Iraq, Afghanistan
The Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST) is capable of rapidly deploying to immediately improve security at United States Government installations worldwide. FAST Marines are deployed at the discretion of the Chief of Naval Operations and the Commandant of the Marine Corps when the primary and auxiliary security forces of the Marines are unable to adequately respond to a security crisis. FAST goes through the Close Quarters Battle School in a specialized course known as Advanced Urban Combat. Once completed, they are given the MOS of 8154.

Established in 1987, FAST companies provide a limited-duration, expeditionary security force to protect vital naval and national assets. FAST maintains forward-deployed platoons at various naval commands around the globe, and possesses U.S.-based alert forces capable of rapidly responding to unforeseen contingencies worldwide. Each FAST company is equipped and trains with some of the most state-of-the-art weaponry and currently consists of around 500 Marines.

FAST maintains a high degree of readiness in order to conduct these short-notice, limited-duration contingency operations, as seen in the port security mission following the attacks on the USS Cole (DDG-67) in October 2000 and the American Embassy reinforcements in Liberia and Haiti. FAST participated in several embassy reinforcements during the Arab Spring, from Cairo, Egypt to Sana’a, Yemen. FAST Marines provided additional security to allow the embassies to continue normal operation. On 12 September 2012 a FAST team was sent to Libya in response to the 2012 U.S. Consulate attack in Benghazi.[3]

  27. Cobacoba98 on 22/22/12 at 4:30 am

Another need to ask Libya’s permission to have FAST enter the country, and they hadn’t set it up prior to the attack.

  28. Cobacoba98 on 22/22/12 at 4:32 am

Also, no one has asked this, but I’d like to know if the CCTV at the consulate was hooked up to satellites.

I would bet my bottom dollar it was. There is no way they are using some antique VHS system. Hell, they had a comm guy there who died…what do you think he was doing?

They were watching CCTV and drone video in real time.

  29. Cobacoba98 on 22/22/12 at 4:40 am

Rota, Spain is 1550 miles by air to Benghazi, so its at leat 2-3 hours by air.

Next question, why are we basing the nearest FAST team to the Middle East in Spain rather than Italy (closer) or somewhere even closer than that?

  30. SDN on 22/22/12 at 9:01 am

“Rota, Spain is 1550 miles by air to Benghazi, so its at leat 2-3 hours by air.”

Cobacoba98, all that does is make their failure to send those troops when Ambassador Stevens requested more security worse.

How long before the military starts treating this crew like the “enemies domestic” they are?

  31. Blue Hen on 22/22/12 at 12:39 pm

In March 2003, the BBC was one of several media outfits to start usng the word “quagmire” within three days of the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The disparity between what happened then and now on the part of the MFM is sickening. We heard less than two months ago how supposedly the Bush administration failed to take advantage of warning before 9/11/2001. We have to hammer them on this.

  32. the receding ocean waters on 22/22/12 at 5:12 pm

The drone saw those peaceful muslims singing and holding hands. Their rpg’s and mortars shot flowers and posters that say we love you dear leader, the messiah.

  33. Vic Kelley on 22/22/12 at 9:32 pm

It’s TREASON. There may not be enough time to impeach Obama as he will soon be out of office. Still has to be a way to try him and make him accountable for Fast & Furious and the Benghazi disgrace.

  34. Sandy Norris on 26/26/12 at 10:31 am

I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that Panetta etc were watching the attack and eating popcorn like they were at some fricking action movie. You better believe Mrs. Clinton was in on this too. The whole thing sickens me.

  35. huck finn on 26/26/12 at 11:22 am

This whole mess is indictive of 2 things, how the policians control of the miltary has paralyzed any high ranking officer from making any type of command decision to protect troops or to fire on enemy combatants without some civilians approval. And secondly how soldiers lives are considered expendable. If those were Obamas children in that building, do you think help would have arrived? Or at least an attempt to save them made. You bet your ass the cavalry would have arrived

  36. Sandy Norris on 26/26/12 at 1:19 pm

This story is getting worse by the minute. Fox is reporting that Doherty and Woods disobeyed orders and went to help, saving lives. They asked for help 3 times and were turned down. These guys deserve a medal for their heroism. I know we toss the word hero around for everything anymore but this is true heroism. Shame on the government. Shame!

  37. Cameron on 26/26/12 at 9:19 pm

Not exactly responsible Journalism here, but then again this isn’t a journalistic website. Regardless, the article is irresponsible.

The quote you cite states that the action the WH took “arrived too late”. But then you spin that into “they did nothing”.

Your line of attack also assumes that there was something that they COULD do to prevent U.S. deaths after they learned of the attack.

I find it despicable how this website and others are wildly spinning, making it sound as if members of the Obama Admin callously sat there doing nothing, without any concern for lives and they intentionally “sacrificed” lives to political reasons.

Charles Woods, the father of the slain SEAL, is out there making wildly hyperbolic claims and accusing American officials of being “murderers”. ( Woods is a Glenn Beck fan and chose to make his statements on Beck’s ridiculously sensational show. Or in other words- Woods is a wild-eyed partisan who is not to be taken as credible . )

The Fox reporter pushing the claim that requests for help were denied has a history of spinning wildly and reporting falsehoods as verified fact.

I would not be at all surprised if there was indeed a command to hold fire as it was initially thought that the incident was yet another protest like the protest taking place across the region on that day. But that was very early on and they obviously realized sometime following that it was of a different nature. By then, it was too late.

The fact that the incident featured crowds so thick that they inhibited the path of the CIA response team ( as revealed in Congressional testimony ) helps to explain why some thought it was yet another protest. Contrary to what you have likely heard, there WAS a crowd that spontaneously formed at the facility. The attack was both planned AND spontaneous in nature.

  38. Sandy Norris on 27/27/12 at 12:24 pm

Why were requests for increased security denied? In fact, why did we did we stay in Benghazi after the Brits and Red Cross pull out? What great plan were we trying to accomplish in a known terrorist hotbed?

P.S. I believe Mr. Woods over our govt officials any day. Doesn’t matter if he is a Beck fan or not, our govt. stood by while his son was being murdered!

  39. N. Colbert on 31/31/12 at 2:42 pm

All of these comments from people who have no real idea of what took place. You were not there. Where were all of these professional opinions when we Americans LEVELED a listening post in Laos staffed by American service members during the Vietnam conflict?

  40. D. Bunker on 1/01/12 at 12:09 pm

Where is all the proof that the right keeps ranting about? Who thinks that you send a military force into an unknown, unfolding situation without knowing the facts on the ground? Should they be subjected to ambush because some Americans only see things in terms of political party? People who think only Orly Taitz and Joe Arpiao know the truth about Obama’s birth are now engaged in lying about the events surrounding the Libyan consulate. Republicans have become like those people who smear someone with the ‘child molester’ tag when they know they are innocent. The damage is done. The tag sticks for some people who simply choose to ignore reality to maintain the purity of their dogma. Lies for liberty I guess they would call it.

People who have been in combat know that you don’t just send troops into the unknown without some idea of what is going on. Getting more people killed might impress today’s “conservatives’ but it’s not prudent military strategy.

Those who think the president watched it all on video and popped the cork on a bottle of champagne while laughing diabolically and twirling his mustache are in need of mental health intervention.
