Report: Obama Campaign Solicited Foreign Donors via Social Media Website

Barack Obama

This could explain the ridiculous amount of money he allegedly raised in September, an astonishing $181 million that seemingly came out of the blue.

President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign has been soliciting foreigners for donations, an explosive report from the conservative Government Accountability Institute (GAI) shows. Those foreign donors are allegedly visiting the Obama campaign’s donation solicitation Web pages through a social media website the campaign controls, and through an outside website that serves mostly Internet users from outside the United States.

About 20 percent of visitors to the “” social media website “originated from foreign locations,” the report found. That Web address is owned and controlled by the Obama re-election campaign.

“At no point during the [website’s] subscription process is a visitor asked whether he or she can legally donate to a U.S. election,” GAI notes.

Since Obama already has overseas fundraisers (with American citizens abroad) they’ll just claim it’s citizens donating.

Washington Examiner writer Paul Bedard reported last week that a fundraising scandal would soon hit the Obama campaign, and may have been one reason why the president bumbled his way to failure during Wednesday’s debate against Mitt Romney.

Federal law prohibits ”a foreign national, directly or indirectly,” from making “a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value … in connection with a Federal, State, or local election. The same section of law makes it a federal crime to “solicit, accept, or receive” such campaign contributions.

More here.

And the report found that the website, which is not owned by President Barack Obama’s campaign but redirects to the campaign’s official donation page, may make the Obama campaign the most susceptible to illicit foreign donations. is connected to an Obama campaign bundler, Robert Roche, who is from Chicago but now lives and co-founded a corporation in China. Roche has direct ties to China’s state-owned banking industry.

Peter Schweizer, president of GAI, told Breitbart News the ease with which foreigners could donate to American candidates puts America’s sovereignty in peril.

“Foreign donations mean that we no longer make our election decisions anymore,” Schweizer told Breitbart News.

Gee, here’s a surprise. The same guy that made the grand promise about public campaign financing , who then turned around and broke that promise, and then turned off AVS on his website is back to his old tricks. Note: back in 2008, people were able to make fake donations to the obama website. The same donations were refused by the McCain and Hillary Clinton websites. And he’s been whining about Citizens United and PACs. Now we know why. He’s funneling money in from overseas and wants to keep his illegal advantage.

I would make two contrasting points here.
    1. Obama’s campaign is acting hypocritcally or even illegally this way and it’s getting very little media play because, well, it’s Obama. We should be mad at both the hypocrisy and the illegality.
    2. Money matters in politics but less than people seem to believe, especially the people who want to choke off money in politics. At least to me, Senator Tester can run twice as many commercials as Rep Rehberg — and he’ll still be Obama’s pal, which means I’ll vote for Rehberg.
I feel squeamish about people other than American citizens and legal residents giving money to our political campaigns but I doubt it has a very strong effect on the election’s outcomes. Could it affect the winner’s policies if the winner were supported by foreign donors? Obama’s term seems to point that way.

You’d think he has nothing to worry about wouldn’t you? I’m sure the Holder justice department will get right on this. Right? Right?…..

Maybe the extra money will be going to buy more organizations like ACORN and the Sons and Daughters of ACORN.
Maybe the money will go to hire more NBPP thugs to stand outside of polling places and intimidate people.
Maybe the money will be going to buy more obamaphones.
Maybe the money will be going for his post election legal defense fund.
Maybe the money will be going for his Presidential library.
Unaccounted for monies can go and do alot of things.
