They can’t admit Obama got an all-time ass-whipping in front of 70 million people, so instead they just pretend nothing happened and all is well.
Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter argued Thursday that the presidential race was “roughly the same as where it was before” Mitt Romney’s consensus victory over President Obama in the first presidential debate.
“I think that Romney made modest gains, there’s no doubt about that,” Cutter told MSNBC. “But the race is essentially the same as it was.”
The argument drew criticism from the “Morning Joe” panel, which dismissed Cutter’s claim as “spin” and insisted repeatedly that the president was “hemorrhaging” after his performance.
Meanwhile, the oily David Axelrod says everything will be fine.
Top Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod said Thursday that he wasn’t worried about the president’s performance in the next debate, despite a consensus victory for Republican challenger Mitt Romney last week.
“I’m not concerned about the next debate,” Axelrod told CNN. “I know the president very well and know how determined he is going into that debate.”
Axelrod went on to address a question of whether the president’s concession Wednesday that he was “too polite” was evidence the campaign was worried about perceptions he could seem aloof or was failing to connect with the American people.
They’re still in shock over what happened October 3 and likely will never recover. If these two schmucks ever get a job in politics after blowing this campaign I’d be equally shocked.
