This reeks of a late October campaign that knows they’re losing, so just imagine how much they realize what trouble they’re already in. Don’t give me any nonsense about context here, either.
Vice President Biden denounced Mitt Romney’s Wall Street regulation plan today in stark terms.
Romney “said in the first hundred days he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules — unchain Wall Street,” Biden told backers in Danville, Va.
“They’re going to put you all back in chains,” Biden added, presumably referring to Romney and new running mate Paul Ryan.
Some Republicans objected to Biden’s use of the word “chains.”
Former George W. Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer: “The press pounded (Sarah) Palin when she talked about ‘blood libel’ .. what will they do about Biden’s ‘chains’ remark.”
A fired-up Biden also appeared to forget where he was.
At the end of his speech, Biden told supporters that, with their help, he and President Obama “can win North Carolina again.”
Update: Not going over well.
“After weeks of slanderous and baseless accusations leveled against Governor Romney, the Obama Campaign has reached a new low,” Romney campaign press secretary Andrea Saul said today. “The comments made by the Vice President of the United States are not acceptable in our political discourse and demonstrate yet again that the Obama Campaign will say and do anything to win this election. President Obama should tell the American people whether he agrees with Joe Biden’s comments.”
