Remind me again how underpaid and hardworking these teachers are. My world’s smallest violin is ready to play.
David Ettlinger, the Newton teacher facing a raft of stomach-turning child pornography charges, kept his face covered in West Roxbury District Court yesterday, as a prosecutor accused him of posing his friend’s sleeping daughter in a sexual manner, then videotaping her.
“The police showed pictures of the girl to her parents, and they identified her as their daughter. They said she was 12 at the time,” Assistant Suffolk District Attorney David Deakin told District Court Judge Kathleen Coffey.
Ettlinger, who pleaded not guilty to charges of indecent assault and battery on a child and posing a child in a state of nudity, was ordered held on $100,000 bail. He’s also being held on a separate $10,000 bail in connection with two child pornography possession charges out of Brighton District Court.
You’ll be thrilled to know that thanks to the teacher’s union, he’s still getting paid.
Ettlinger, 34, who grew up in Newton and lives in Brighton, is a longtime elementary school teacher. He is on paid leave from his $73,000-a-year job teaching second-graders at the Underwood School, but Newton school Superintendent David Fleischman said the district is moving toward terminating him.
Moving towards terminating him. Well, that’s a relief. How long will that take?
