Just imagine if the media were as critical of the current occupant of the White House as they were of George W. Bush when gas prices skyrocketed in 2008. It’s funny, but I don’t see many reports from the pumps these days. Why is the media so interested in protecting this miserable failure?
A new poll shows that nearly two-thirds of Americans disapprove of the way President Obama is handling gasoline prices, a finding which could blunt his election-year political gains from the brightening economic picture.
Sixty-five percent disapprove of Obama’s performance on prices at the pump that have surged in recent weeks, while 26 percent approve and nine percent had no opinion, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll released Monday.
The same poll shows that 59 percent disapprove of how Obama is handling the economy, up from 53 percent in polling data the news outlets released in early February, and up from 57 percent in mid-January.
Of the 59 percent that currently aren’t happy with Obama’s stewardship of the economy, 50 percent “strongly,” disapprove, which is a jump of nine points and the most yet in a Post-ABC News poll, according to the survey.
The poll shows that Obama’s approval rating has dipped to 46 percent, compared to 50 percent in polling by the news outlets five weeks ago.
No wonder the Democrats want to distract people by babbling about contraception and this whole manufactured “war on women” nonsense. They claim the GOP has waged war on women, but overlook the fact they’re waging war on men, women and children. But we’re not supposed to talk about that. Let’s get back to Rush Limbaugh.
It finds that among registered voters, if the election were held today, 49 percent would vote for Romney while 47 percent would pick Obama. Against Santorum, Obama has a 49 to 46 percent edge.
The results come amid a surge in gasoline prices that’s fueling constant attacks against Obama’s energy policies from Capitol Hill Republicans and GOP White House hopefuls.
Big meanies and their “constant attacks” on poor Bammy. Awww. They neglect to mentions the 24/7 assault the right has to endure.
Update: Making things worse for Obama is the fact only 27% of the poll responders are Republicans.
The sample for this poll splits 31 percent Democrat, 27 percent Republican, 36 percent Independent.
More on these skewed samples from Ed Morrissey.
