Planned Parenthood Runs Into More Funding Issues

The hits just keep on coming for Planned Parenthood. The state of Tennessee is now withholding grant money from them for their HIV and syphilis prevention programs.

Planned Parenthood also accuses the state of violating the organization’s First Amendment rights and patients’ rights by restricting access to non-abortion services based solely on an aversion to abortion.

Let’s see here. First Amendment, First Amendment, oh, here it is.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Not sure which one of those rights Tennessee is supposed to be violating. Is Planned Parenthood trying to make the claim that denying them money amounts to establishment of religion? They are also screaming about First Amendment rights in relation to Susan G Komen withdrawing funds also. I don’t see an abridging of free speech or the press or assembly.  Methinks that may be as far as they got in reading in the Constitution and some how think this is some sort of catch all amendment that addresses all of their ills.

Can’t wait till they get to the Second Amendment.

Gee. Maybe the margaret Sanger fan club can join forces with the US Conference of Bishops about these intrusions into the core missions of groups. Anyone think that’ll happen?
