I guess only the failed president is allowed to have high-end fundraisers in California. So Mitt Romney has a big bash scheduled this week in the Bay Area and apparently this offends people, unlike Obama’s 847 fundraisers held recently there.
Romney’s Hillsborough event – and his close association with Whitman – both represent “a risk,” said economist Sylvia Allegretto of UC Berkeley’s Institute for Research on Labor and Employment.
“Democrats should be hitting this hard,” she said, to drive home their point “that running a company and running a country are absolutely almost antithetical to each other.”
Democrats are also raising eyebrows at a “ladies luncheon” that Ann Romney, the candidate’s wife, is hosting Wednesday at the Palo Alto home of Cisco Systems CEO John Chambers and his wife, Elaine.
Liberal groups are getting even tougher: AmericansUnitedforChange.org, an activist group, this week released a list of Romney’s “all time, out-of-touch, 1 percent moments” – including his plans for a new $55,000 car lift at his beachfront home in La Jolla (San Diego County).
