Obama’s America: Man Ticketed for Having Romney Bumpersticker on His Vehicle

Posted by on Oct 01, 2012 at 9:35 am

Doesn’t this guy realize we no longer have a First Amendment?

An Atlanta man said a parking officer cited him after noticing a Romney campaign bumper sticker on the rear of his vehicle.Ryan Wolfe said an employee of ParkAtlanta, a third-party with whom the city of Atlanta contracts to enforce parking regulations, seemed so “insulted” by his political decal that she gave him both a ticket and tongue lashing.

“I overheard her say that, when she saw the sticker on the back of my car … ‘Oh, I’m definitely going to give you a ticket now,’” Wolfe told the local Fox News affiliate, which he later said was alerted to the story by a ParkAtlanta whistleblower.

Wolfe never contested the since-paid ticket, explaining he unwittingly parked briefly on a digitally metered road to make a quick purchase at a nearby store.

But the Georgia Republican Party was outraged over the incident.

“I’ve never heard of this, the bumper sticker war,” Georgia GOP chairwoman Sue Everhart said. “I am just amazed that this happened in this city, and I know this is not what Mayor Reed would like to see his employees do. It reflects on the whole city.”

    Why should anybody be surprised?

Leftists are, as a rule, prone to fits of totalitarian pique. And they mostly do it when someone else has the nerve to express dissent from one of their myriad dogmas, or the audacity to hope for a better president than their current beloved god-man.

That’s how leftists are, as a rule.

So one must live accordingly: Only a fool puts a Romney bumper-sticker on his car in the U.S. today unless he lives in the reddest of the red-state zones and never travels outside of there.

Put a Romney sign out in your yard, and you get egged.

Put a Romney bumper-sticker on your car, and you get keyed.

Write conservative-sounding opinions on your blog and you’re apt to get phony phone-calls to the cops sending a SWAT team to your house in hopes of committing homicide-by-cop. (Just ask Aaron Walker or Patterico.)

Or, your Facebook account will be hijacked (or a phony one put up with your picture on it) to accuse you of beating your kid, as happened to one lady recently when she admitted (gasp!) being a Christian online and had a gay leftist who was offended about her faith’s sexual teachings assemble a phony Facebook status update saying that she’d beat her young son for befriending a homeless man who was gay, or something like that.

Admit to being a Romney supporter in a telephone poll, and now an employee at a polling firm has your address and phone number. Do you know the political affiliation of that employee? Of the firm? Nope. But they know yours…which is why smart people increasingly don’t reveal this information. I certainly wouldn’t.

I live in NJ and have seen very, very few Obama stickers this time around but have seen a good number of Romney stickers in places I would not have expected them, like in faculty parking lots of the few colleges in the area and the Obama stickers from last time seem to have disappeared. Maybe some thing good is going to happen?

Deserttrek, That was my first thought as well. I think we all know the score.

Can’t say I’ve seen many R/R stickers around my home in Northwest Austin (which has in the past voted Democrat) but I have seen VERY FEW Obama stickers. Many more in ’08 than there are now.

Atlanta’s parking enforcement is crony capitalism at its worst, with a running history of abuses. What city that falls into Democrat hands does not become a failed and corrupt criminal enterprise?

Obama’s minions have just about used up their “We on top!” warranty. There will likely be civil unrest nationwide on election day, whether their warranty gets renewed or not.

While I can faintly view the connection between this video and the man’s claim that he was punished for his bumper sticker, it is a bit of a stretch. And while I’m as paranoid as the next guy this is one of those things I would take with a grain of salt. I need corroborating data to confirm, sorry.
    Y’all be good.

I wouldn’t doubt this for a minute but at the same time there is little provocation needed for ParkAtlanta to issue vindictive parking tickets. The whole thing was supposed to “modernize” city parking from the old mechanical meters serviced by APD. It has been a disaster across the board. The incentives now are for an enforcement regime up to and OVER the line of technical legality with confidence that most people will not contest the $25 ticket in court. Lucky for me my Jeep Liberty was stolen from a pay lot and wrecked a couple years ago. Since that time it is amazing how much I don’t care about gas prices or the parking wars.

I live in Dallas and haven’t had a problem. Of course, my truck has a Texas State Rifle Association sticker on it.

    A fair point.
