Obama Spokesthing: People Magazine ‘Equally Important’ as Political Media

Posted by on Aug 19, 2012 at 10:50 am

This Stefanie Cutter is a regular laugh riot. Trying to defend the wimpy president’s granting interviews to People magazine and Entertainment Tonight, the clueless Cutter offered up this whopper.

President Obama’s deputy campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter said Sunday that entertainment media like People magazine and Entertainment Tonight are just as important as the national political press in the 2012 campaign.

Republicans and the media have complained about the president’s lack of dialogue with the national media even as he sits down with People and “ET.” Cutter suggested little will change in the days and weeks ahead and that those outlets serve an equally important role in the campaign.

“I don’t think that they’re more important, but I think they’re equally important,” Cutter said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I think that’s where a lot of Americans get their news. And I think the president’s going to continue doing that.”

Republicans have complained recently that Obama hasn’t held a press conference in about two months. They also pointed to an interview he did with the local media in New Mexico in which he weighed in on a series of pop culture topics, including Carly Rae Jepsen’s song “Call Me Maybe” and whether he preferred red or green chiles.

Cutter noted Sunday that Obama feels it’s important to talk to the local media and communicate with voters through other means.

So avoiding real questions from real reporters is now a strategy, I guess. Lame.

I understand the frustration that he’s not dealing with “serious” news organizations, but a glance at circulation figures shows People easily tops the NYT, and Entertainment Tonight outpulls Fox News (but stills falls far short of broadcast network news). Sure, the questions will all be softballs, or maybe even soap bubbles, but I’m not sure the MSM would be any tougher.

the lapdogs are growling? Fuck em. They never vetted the tool in 2008, they carried water for him and his ilk for the last 4 years, and now they feel like a used tissue? Grow up and do your jobs. But first, apologize for your past failures

The scary part of this affair is that these are the types of people that stand as leadership against real hostile forces in the world where there is no knee padded MSM to cover and protect our inc0mpetent president..

Ms Cutter would have a point if Obama as talking to the regular press and the Hollywood press. He is not.

This woman needs to suture up and bandage over that suppurating, gaping gash she calls a mouth.

Shouldn’t she have said, “…but I think they’re, like, you know, equally important?”
