Obama Campaign Sues Website Pimping Obama Swag

Pretty soon they’ll be claiming a capital O is trademarked and anyone using it owes Obama some money.

This reeks of desperation.

Lawyers for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign are going to court Monday in Washington to ask a judge to stop a website from selling T-Shirts, bumper stickers and buttons with the campaign’s signature “O” logo.

Lawyers representing the campaign filed a lawsuit against the owners of Demstore.com in June. The campaign says the owners of the website, Washington Promotions & Printing Inc., are infringing on their trademark by selling the products. And they say the Obama campaign is losing money and the ability to get the names of supporters as a result.

What, they don’t have enough names already that they can spam nonstop?

It’s not as if the site has anything other than Obama gear. But I guess they want a cut of anything with Obama’s name on it. Seem more than a little petty. I guess if the owners of the site don’t comply they’ll have Obama’s goons breaking down their doors looking to confiscate the merchandise.
