Obama: ‘Al Qaeda is on the path to defeat’; Gen. Allen: ‘Al-Qaida has come back’

Who are you going to believe, a Marine Corps General or that lying sack of shit in the White House?

With President Obama’s team gradually admitting al-Qaida’s role in the attacks on the U.S. Embassy in Libya, the top U.S. general in Afghanistan announced that “Al-Qaida has come back.”

Al-Qaida has come back, [and] is a resilient organization,” Marine Corps Gen. John R. Allen told 60 Minutes last night, per the Armed Forces Press Service. “But they’re not here in large numbers. But al-Qaida doesn’t have to be anywhere in large numbers.” Allen is leader of the International Security Assistance Force.

His remark seems to undercut President Obama’s foreign policy boast from this weekend in Nevada. “And while a new tower rises above the New York skyline, al Qaeda is on the path to defeat, and Osama bin Laden is dead,” the president said yesterday.

Despite his mushrooming Libya scandal he still can’t even lose the talking points. Sad.

Obama’s remarks on al qaeda are simply unmoored from reality.

There’s probably not a huge al qaeda presence in Afghanistan anymore but until very recently 0sama was living in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

I suspect that zawahiri’s also still in the general vicinity.

And we’re constantly reading news stories about our drones picking off this or that al qaeda leader in Waziristan or wherever.

And al qaeda has set up profitable, bloody, murderous franchises elsewhere: al qaeda in Mesopotamia, al qaeda in the Arabian peninsula, al qaeda in the Maghreb.

And, of course, there are all the various local affiliates trading in jihad from Morocco to the Philippines.

So I’m not sure that it’s had a comeback so much as it’s grown by leaps and bounds. I’m certain, however, that it’s not on the path to defeat.

Anyone else remember san fran Nan declaring that fighting al queda would “just create more terrorists”? I don’t know if this is the cause, but the timing sure sucks. And the dear leader is all about timing and appearances.

Osama bin Laden is dead,” the president said yesterday.

How many times you gonna kill him, Barry?
