Well, that didn’t take long. That’s right, the idiot blamed the gun for the Jovan Belcher murder-suicide.
You want some actual perspective on this? Well a bit of it comes from the Kansas City-based writer Jason Whitlock, with whom I do not always agree, but who today said it so well that we may as well just quote or paraphrase from the end of his article. “Our current gun culture,” Whitlock wrote, “ensures that more and more domestic disputes will end in the ultimate tragedy, and that more convenience store confrontations over loud music coming from a car will leave more teenage boys bloodied and dead. Handguns do not enhance our safety. They exacerbate our flaws, tempt us to escalate arguments, and bait us into embracing confrontation rather than avoiding it.”
So if Belcher had stabbed the woman to death would Costas be advocating for knife control? What if Belcher pummeled her to death with his fists, would he be calling for hand control? No, the anti-gun nuts never do that, yet when a gun is used to commit a crime, there’s the instant knee-jerk reaction to blame the gun. Who knows, maybe if the dead girlfriend had a gun she’d still be alive today. Did Little Bobby consider that? Belcher clearly had issues, but it doesn’t mean the Second Amendment rights of millions of Americans should be infringed upon because of it.

Bob who?
Thanks for the one minute of silence for the Israeli athletes.
Now, go get your shine box!
Would someone please tell this guy to get an adult haircut?
That’s a rug. My wife tells me he’s pretty bald with just having hair around the edges.
Anyone who would quote that embarrassment Jason Whitlock needs to have his head checked. At any rate, why isn’t Super-Bob blaming the violence of professional football? Or big-booze? Or the pharmaceutical industry? Another lib knocking down a convenient straw man.
The NFL is a left wing organization. Let’s push to ban football since it’s obviously causing suicidal and homicidal behavior in its players.
It wasn’t the constant blows to the head…….it wasn’t the daily sale of violence (that Bob Costas participates in)……it wasn’t the unbearable pressure of stardom that led to this tragedy……
No, it was the gun.
In the same way that owning a car creates an irresistible urge in driver to run over pedestrians, guns caused a crime to happen that wouldn’t have happened otherwise. In the same way that owning a chain saw almost forces people to go on a killing rampage……..in the same way that the sight of cutlery makes people want to “STAB…STAB….STAB!”, the gun spoke in his ear and made him do something that he never would have contemplated otherwise.
And while we’re on the subject, shouldn’t we ban football for the same reason? It’s a dangerous sport that not only threatens the health and well of the players. Rival fans have been known to beat each other to death over the slightest insult to their home team.
Look at the trouble some of these players get into when they are in college. We have a gangsta culture among a lot of these players. And, no, it’s not a Black thing.
Sounds like the blame lies with “Our football culture” as much as anything else. A culture you have been promoting for years Mr. Bob “blood on your hands” Costas.
Better to left people think you are stupid, than open your mouth and remove all doubt.
You left out the dumbest statement of all. I’m paraphrasing, but Costas said if Belcher didn’t own a gun, both of the dead would still be alive today. Because apparently there was no such thing as murder until the firearm was invented. I think Nicole Brown Simpson, and many many others, would tend to disagree.
Whitlock and Costas are sports “commentators”. That means that their opinions about anything IMPORTANT are about as significant as those of the average porn starlet regarding the theoretical maximum bite force exerted by a medium to large pliosaur.
Intellectually, most professional football players are on a par with the dead football players, killed in a plane crash, hanging around in the waiting from for the afterlife, asking stupid questions, in the movie “Beetlejuice”. Intellectually, most sports commentators are on a par with the front landing gear strut of that plane.
The NFL is a left wing organization.
That’s debatable, but the fact that all the jock-sniffing pussy commentators like Costas are lefties is not.
By “Little Bobby” I hope you are refering to the size of his brain and not his…errr…physical height. Cause that’s heightism and you Jammy Wearing fools have now lost all credibility with me. Heightists!
Just kidding…I’m sure you’re refering to both…and maybe a third. Yes, I mean his feet…and those soft little girly hands of his.
Ban everything, equality of results for all, forward!
It’s not Bob’s fault. The microphone made him do it.
There’s a move on to apologize for a MURDERER. The gun did it. The concussion did it.
Costas should stay out of politics and is that really a rug?
