NAACP Official Says Obama Staffer Threatened Him: ‘We’ve been watching you, and since you don’t support Obama, we’ll deal with you’

Maybe the Romney Justice Department can deal with such thuggery.

The President of the South Suburban Branch of the NAACP alleges a director of the re-election campaign of Barack Obama has threatened and intimidated him because he doesn’t support the president.

David Lowery says he believes he was threatened during a phone conversation with Louis Raymond, the Illinois political director for Obama for America.

Lowery says he doesn’t personally support the president because he’s not addressing issues important to the black community. He said he was explaining that to Raymond when the Obama campaign official told him, “You know what? I know everything about you.”

Lowery says Raymond added, “We’ve been watching you, and since you don’t support Obama, we’ll deal with you,” before hanging up.

Lowery filed a report with the Oak Forest police report, he says, “in case something happens.”

He says it was suggested the NAACP should automatically back the president. Lowery notes a non-profit cannot support a particular candidate.

He says it’s a clear signal the Obama campaign is concerned about the black vote.

If they’re concerned with the black vote at this point they’re in worse shape than anyone can imagine. His collapsing  numbers  in his home state must have them terrified.

Non-profits can’t endorse candidates? Well, maybe that’s technically true, but by golly they sure do make their preferences known. And that’s true for liberals and conservatives alike.
It’s hardly surprising that the NAACP is automatically supporting Pres Obama. They would have automatically supported General Powell if he had run. To be fair, the senior leaders of the NAACP remember legal school segregation and Jim Crow in all its glory. The most senior leaders may even have had grandparents who were born in slavery and were small children when the War Between The States ended. It’s only in my lifetime that the racial equality became the social standard.
People who are black, and who are over about 65, were pushed firmly into an identity group. It’s hardly surprising that their sons and daughters have some of it also.
The sins of the (white) fathers are being visited unto the third and fourth generation. For all that discrimination itself may be hard to find now, its memory runs deep.

If they remember so well, why do they support the political party that fervently backed slavery, segregation, and “Jim Crow in all its glory”?

MT Geoff – Please don’t forget the white people who were working for you back then (civil war period), then with you during the restoration period (when the Southern DEMOCRATIC party established it terror wing the KKK) then thru the translational years
(early 1900’s to the early 1960’s) till the present. You don’t need to admit it but we both know if ‘all’ white people had wanted you purged and gone over the last 200 years or so, I would not be typing this reply. During the golden period of Egyptian history
black people love to point out that the pharoahs were by and large Nubian. Even given an army of ‘free’masons working on the pyramids the Egyptians were still probably one of the largest slavers in history, using other Africans, Greeks, Arabs, Italians, anyone they could grab including probably some of my ancestreal
tree. So how far back can one go looking for reasons to levy greviance? In many instances I find the racism exhibited by blacks to be just as obnoxious as that of whites and just as wrong.

Don’t forget the founding father of the true welfare state, LBJ, was said to have said after signing the Civil Rights Act,
(paraphrasing) this should guarantee the black vote for democrats for generations to come. You were still bought and sold, as late as 1964, by the party you still support, and as a usually right leaning independent I find that fascinating. Memory may run deep but it can also be bought.

    Howdy Jon B
Happens I’m as lily-white as anyone. I’m a child of the 1960s and 1970s, when “equality” was the phrase and was becoming the reality, thank heaven. With, as you note, the ongoing partnership of people who are white.
And yes, lyle, the Dems have been the party of Jim Crow and Bull Connor and slavery itself. The minority “leadership” became big fans when the Dems started handing out goodies instead of working for justice — something I don’t feel like the Dems have ever done.
My point was, and still is, that the leadership emeritus of the NAACP don’t have to ask their parents about Jim Crow — they lived it. They didn’t embrace a racial identity, they were branded with it. So it’s easy to understand how they’ve passed it on and easy to understand why they care more about skin color than character.

No. it is not merely this. The sins of people who would rather play identity politics and turn their backs on the teaching of the Rev. Martin Luther King are at work. Your comments have their own bigotry. All of us possess gifts to think and choose. If we choose badly, the sin is not on people long dead.

Howdy back at ya MT Geoff. Your eloquence in stating the position of some blacks today had me fooled. I had family shredded by grapeshot at Antietam, and I would like to believe his motivation
wasn’t all just ‘let’s reconquer the south to get OUR cotton back’ but that there was also a shred of humanity in helping to free an oppressed peoples in his thinking also. And when blacks talk about their racial memories and greivances today, not only should they remember what their ancestors went thru, but also what a lot of ours went thru for them also. Also as far as I know no-one in our family ever got reparations for one of my ancestor dying to free them.

  7. MT Geoff on 5/05/12 at 2:17 pm

    Howdy friends
Jon, I have no idea if any of my ancestors were involved in the War. Very possible, and perhaps on both sides. According to what I’ve read, the majority of Northerners at the beginning of the War wanted to preserve the Union and work out slavery some other way; by the end of the war, it had become a liberation movement.
Blue Hen, you are right that no one today needs to hold onto the racial divisions and sorrows of thepast. Each of us is responsible for the choices we make. I do not excuse today’s race-baiters, especially the younger ones like Barack Obama himself. I do understand that people like Bill Cosby experienced what Obama did not — and Cosby is no race-baiter. It is still true that many generations of sin are involved in our racial divides, and the children of sinners are bearing some of the burden. And the worst of those sins were committed by people we would call “white”. I don’t encourage grievance; I acknowledge it and the reality from which some of it springs.

  8. Frank G on 6/06/12 at 4:04 pm

quit apologizing for race-baiters today. Black societal downfall can point to a sixties surge. By the Democrat party and the Great Society. The NAACP has become a Victims Party that will keep the rest on the Donk plantation. They have no moral authority. See the liars that said they were spit on during the march with Pelosi to the Capital. Liars

    * Who is this God? Evidences of Deity’s importance and power are EVERYWHERE:
+ “In God We Trust” – it’s on our MONEY (to use the phrase “for heaven’s sake”
    seems outré)
+ “One Nation Under God” (Pledge of Allegiance)
+ “…are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights among which are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” (Declaration of Independence)
+ THE BIBLE safe kept in the Washington Monument Corner Stone
+ The WASHINGTON, JEFFERSON, LINCOLN MEMORIALS; the Rotunda of the Capitol
Building and more all bear testimony and evidence of OUR RELIANCE ON THIS GOD
+ Battle Hymn of the Republic; America the Beautiful, Star Spangled Banner, God
Bless America, My Country Tis of Thee and more

    * Who worships this God?
    + Every language
    + Every color
    + Every race
+ Every creed [Except those whose worship is FORCED or who are taught by “preachers” saying “G@d D#mn America” or something like that–they have a …different deity…who does not have power to save, and whose acceptance is not based on love or the Rule of Law].

    * Where is the “God of Our Fathers” worshipped, praised, and petitioned?
+ In chapels of infinite description and persuasion
    + In synagogues
+ In cathedrals great and small
+ In nature’s sublime settings “from sea to shining sea”
+ In the hearts and homes of innumerable “believers”

    * What has the “God of our Fathers” done for us?
+ Starting about 1776, a pitiful band of farmer/soldiers DEFEATED THE GREATES
MILITARY POWER the world had ever known to DO SOMETHING UNIQUE–achieve their
own Freedoms “with Liberty and Justice for All”
+ Since then, through scores of conflicts, attacks upon our freedoms, and threats of tyrants, traitors, and despots, the God of Our Fathers has kept America safe and Americans free.
+ Despite any number of catastrophes, calamities, and tests of our individual and National will, the God of our Fathers has rallied us; led us; strengthened us; and given us FAITH we will overcome adversity and challenge

    * What is the God of Our Fathers doing for us NOW?
+ The hidden plans of evil men against our FREEDOMS are being revealed
+ The incompetence and fecklessness of our “leaders” has been shown to all the world
+ MASSES OF PATRIOTS, the majority of AMERICANS, now support NEW LEADERS and a
New Vision of America Freedom of Speech and Worship
+ The standard and flag of LIBERTY, HONOR, AND DECENCY IN GOVERNMENT has again
    been unfurled
+ The evils of Freedom’s enemies are now clearly displayed

+ The Constitution, Bill of Rights, and our FREEDOMS OF SPEECH AND RELIGION shall be RE-ESTABLISHED
+ The threat of subversion of our way of life by Sharia shall be repulsed
+ The White House shall be cleansed of unconstitutional “Czars”; treasonous “public servants”; and incompetent and fraudulent “elected leaders” in Washington and throughout our land
+ Our position as Leader of the Free World will be humbly re-established by A NEW PRODUCTIVITY; STRONGER FAMILIES; MORE ABUNDANT WORK; AND RELIANCE ON THE DIVINE.

And then we shall CONTINUE to worship, and praise, and plead with the God of Our Fathers to
further cleanse, and refine*, and preserve our Land, our Freedoms, and Our People.
[From America the Beautiful: “May God thy gold refine, till all success be nobleness, and every gain divine” READ EVERY VERSE TODAY.

The Reverend Martin Luther King (a republican I might add) fought and died so blacks can have equal rights. Well sadly the majority of black leaders today, along with many many black citizens don,t want equal rights. They want special rights, and until this mindset is overcome, there will never be true equality amongst the races. Democratic entitlements along with affirmative action have done more to harm the black race than any caucasion could have tried too. And now with Obama rescinding the work requirements for welfare recipients in a vague attempt to garnish votes. If only they could see, how the party that claims to be on there side, are actually the ones keeping them down. Free Free Free the salesman’s favorite and most successful bait. If only you could see what you are giving up for what may seem free on the outside, but in reality you’ve paid with your self respect and your very soul. oh and of course, lest we forget, your vote !
