Missouri GOP Senate Candidate: ‘Legitimate rape’ rarely causes pregnancy

Posted by on Aug 19, 2012 at 5:08 pm

What the hell is wrong with this guy? What did he do, wake up and take Joe Biden pills or something?

Rep. Todd Akin, the newly-christened GOP Senate nominee in Missouri, said in an interview airing Sunday that “legitimate rape” rarely causes pregnancy.

Explaining his no-exceptions policy on abortions, Akin was asked why he opposes abortion even when the pregnancy is the result of rape.

“First of all, from what I understand from doctors, (pregnancy from rape) is really rare,” Akin told KTVI-TV in a clip posted to YouTube by the Democratic super PAC American Bridge. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

Akin added: “But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child.”

A tree stump could beat Claire McCaskill. Unfortunately, the GOP has this idiot instead.

Want something even dumber? Debbie Blabbermouth-Schultz somehow ties this idiot to Paul Ryan.

When you’re “clarifying,” you’re losing. It never travels as far nor has the impact of the original stupid statement.

Akin still has a 5-7 point lead. Missourians are smart enough to not fall for this crap. It will be water under the bridge on Election Day…but Claire McCaskill’s record supporting the most hated President in history won’t be.

Five words says Claire McCaskill loses by double digits:

    “Claire McCaskill voted for Obameecare”.

    Stop whining and FOCUS.

As far as I’m concerned, rape is rape. This has become a distraction (which is what the Obama camp WANTS and they’re already trying to tie Romney and Ryan to Akin). If there is time, I think Akin should withdraw from the race and let the GOP replace him on the ballot (possibly with Steelman).

He went full Biden. You never go full Biden.

Abortion activists love hiding behind the victims of rape and incest. It gains traction and they get to pretend that they care. Try asking one to justify the preganant woman shot by Maj Hasan being told that her choice was nothing in the eyes of the law. This has nothing to do with allieviating misery or protecting rights. This is about enshrining abortion; nothing more.
