Mike Bloomberg’s New York: Eight People Shot On Annual ‘Night Out’ Against Violence

Obviously it’s the fault of the guns.

On a night when communities across the city and country celebrated fighting against crime and gun violence, thugs hit New York City streets with guns blazing.

Cops responded to least four shootings over a three-hour span in the city on “National Night Out,” an evening that saw people come out in their neighborhoods to rally against crime and guns. It’s ironic and senseless.

And entirely predictable.

In another irony, the mini-mayor used the occasion to remind everyone what a great jobs he’s doing fighting crime.

“The proof is in the numbers. Take a look crime here is down 36 percent from where it was in 2001,” he at a block party hosted by the 32nd Precinct in Harlem. “Since 2001, the NYPD had cut crime citywide by 32 percent and made this the safest big city in the nation.”

I’m sure those eight folks shot last night are comforted, Mikey.
