Massachusetts Mails Out 500,000 Voter Registration Forms to Welfare Recipients in Effort Led by Former ACORN Honchos

You’ll never guess who’s on the board of directors of this dubious outfit.

The state has mailed out voter registration letters to nearly 500,000 welfare recipients, in a push sparked by a group led by former ACORN bigwigs that critics say is a naked bid to boost Democrats at the polls in November.

The letters, mailed last month by the state’s Department of Transitional Assistance, went out as Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren have been locked in a neck-and-neck race.

The welfare system’s get-out-the-vote push came in response to a suit brought by New England United for Justice (NEU4J), which is led by three former leaders of the controversial Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now. ACORN was disbanded in 2010 amid a voter fraud scandal.

So a group responsible for massive voter fraud is leading an effort to register welfare recipients. Swell.

State officials denied the aggressive voter outreach is a ploy to pad the Democratic voter rolls.

“I would refute any effort to portray this as a Democratic get-out-the-vote effort,” said Marilyn Chase, an assistant secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. “And I’d reframe it as an intent on the part of a state agency to comply with what’s mandated by federal law.”

John Feehery, a Washington, D.C.-based GOP consultant, scoffed at the claim.

“What a crock,” Feehery said. “So the fix is in, huh? This is an inside job. The settlement seems like it’s a case of (Gov. Deval) Patrick finding a way to help his friends, Barack Obama and Elizabeth Warren.”

NEU4J worked in concert with Demos, a liberal group leading a national charge to enroll welfare recipients. Demos — which was started in the 1990s and lists Barack Obama on its founding board of directors — has sued nine states, including the battlegrounds of Ohio, Pennsylvania and Nevada, according to Demos lawyer Lisa Danetz.

Even in the bluest of blue states it appears they’re worried and need a massive push among welfare recipients, which happen to include Obama’s illegal alien Auntie Zeituni.

Wait. WTF is a “the state’s Department of Transitional Assistance”?
Is that like the welcome wagon for the “newly poor”?
Why do I always feel like an idiot, out looking for a job, and I hear that these huge depts exist? I’m looking in the classifieds, and at the same time, some well connectected schmuck, it getting shown their new fancy office full of……. nothing to do! Except mail out some letters every 4 years.
Screw the article (OK, not really), but everytime I hear a story like this, I see another big Patronage dept, full of idiots wasting money.

“The mission of the Department of Transitional Assistance is to assist low-income individuals and families to meet their basic needs, increase their incomes, and improve their quality of life.”

Again, who is looking out for the middle class, really? Mitt can give me a job, or this office can make sure I’m signed up for every freebie out there. What state can have an office dedicated to “increasing the income” of welfare recipients?

Hey look, a blue state with enough welfare recipients to fill a major American city. Even ten percent of those folks vote, Scott Brown goes down and the state gets a Commie Marxist.

Democrats. If you can’t beat them with promises of free stuff, bury them with voter fraud.

Oh, and serious question: why are welfare recipients allowed to vote anyway?

They used to not be allowed to; Google “pauper’s oath”. Then FDR realized that there wouldn’t be enough Democrat voters if that continued….

Take $10 out of every welfare check. Send it diectly to debt reduction. When these ppl cry WTF, they now have “skin in the game”.
Silly assed idea: Maybe make it so that you get 1 vote for every 10k you EARN!
Layabout welfare dog=1 vote. Small biz owner w/payroll, code laws, massive liability insurance costs (Lest maggot fake a fall & sue) gets 1 vote for every 10k he pays taxes on! A layabout gets the same say as Steve Jobs did? Yeah, they were equals!
Wanna vote, get a job. Until then you are a “Ward of the State”, to be cared for, coddled to and have all your needs met w/o sacrifice to the good of society.
All animals on this farm are NOT equal!
I’m going to Greece again monday. Last time there, I was telling my wifes’ family about our Welfare system. THEY thought WE were nuts.
