ESPN Racist Rob Parker Apologizes to RGIII

The idiot should have done this five minutes after uttering his racist bilge. Somehow it took  him six days  to sack up and do the right thing.

“I blew it and I’m sincerely sorry,” Parker wrote on Twitter. “I completely understand how the issue of race in sports is a sensitive one and needs to be handled with great care. This past Thursday I failed to do that. I believe the intended topic is a worthy one. Robert’s thoughts about being an African-American quarterback and the impact of his phenomenal success have been discussed in other media outlets, as well as among sports fans, particularly those in the African-American community. The failure was in how I chose to discuss it on First Take, and in doing so, turned a productive conversation into a negative one. I regrettably introduced some points that I never should have and I completely understand the strong response to them, including ESPN’s reaction. Perhaps most importantly, the attention my words have brought to one of the best and brightest stars in all of sports is an unintended and troubling result. Robert Griffin III is a talented athlete who not only can do great things on the field, but off the field handles himself in a way we are all taught – with dignity, respect and pride. I’ve contacted his agent with hopes of apologizing to Robert directly. As I reflect on this and move forward, I will take the time to consider how I can continue to tackle difficult, important topics in a much more thoughtful manner.”

The first opportunity he gets he’ll be accusing people of racism. That how these lefties roll. Oddly, he left all the retweets agreeing with his racist outburst intact on his Twitter feed, such as this one:

Update: Obviously we’re not the only ones skeptical about this mealy-mouthed so-called apology.

Here is a young black man with morals and all this idiot cares about is that he doesn’t act black enough.

Honestly, he doesn’t need to apologize to Robert Griffin III. He needs to apologize to caucasians. His “insult” was that RGIII was seeming too white; As if being white is a bad thing.

Like so many of the people who belatedly offer these apologies after saying something monumentally offensive — and only then to deflect all the heat they’re catching — the apology is really nothing more than them trying to put the mask back on after they’ve let it slip.

You’re not hearing from the real him now, the real him was the one who made the offensive comment a few days ago: a racist, frankly. Someone who thought it would be okay to say things about white people that any white person would be tarred and feathered for saying anyone else — and he’d no doubt be one of the people heating up the tar.

Edit to comment above: In this case he was saying it about a black person, but the implication is that the subject of his comment was not “legitimately” black. Again, it’s a comment he thought it would be okay to make, because he’s not white.
