Dumbest Woman in Congress Facing Challenge From Rapper

Let’s face it, even a guy who spells his nickname Cornbreadd (with two d’s) can’t possibly be as insipid as the inane dunderhead Sheila Jackson Lee.

Rapper and 2009 Houston Press cover subject Cornbreadd, aka Maurice Duhon Jr., has just announced his candidacy for Congress. Duhon is running as an independent for Texas’ 18th District, trying to unseat longtime incumbent Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.

“Although I am fervently proud of both our district and our city, I believe we can do better,” Duhon says on his campaign’s Web site. “The current instability of our financial markets, a rising rate of poverty, and a massive national debt are just a few of the reasons why we must do better.

“I plan to introduce and participate in an evolved and updated political conversation with the residents and business owners of the 18th district and her surrounding areas,” he adds.

Cornbreadd Duhon dialed back his musical career as a rapper and member of Tha Fucking Transmissions more than a year ago, when he began writing his blog PoliticalAbyss.

He will host one of the most interestingly titled campaign fundraisers we’ve ever heard of, “WHO and WHAT is an Uncle Tom? A Retrospective Conversation” at 6:30 p.m. next Wednesday, Feb. 29, at the Eldorado Ballroom.

It doesn’t appear his blogging career lasted long as the site hasn’t been updated since January 2011. Still, it’s more of an accomplishment that Jackson Lee has under her belt.

Here’s Duhon’s campaign website.

Sending a contribution. Wish it were larger, but the last three years has wiped out our savings. Loved your interview on The Michael Berry Show. Please, Lord, bless us with Maurice.
