Cory Booker: “Criminals are killing people. Not law-abiding gun owners”

Posted by on Dec 23, 2012 at 7:37 pm

Finally we may have found a sane Democrat when it comes to guns.

“I’m not afraid of law-abiding citizens who buy a gun,” he said. “Buy the guns you want. What the problem is in America right now is that a terrorist person who is on the no-fly list could go into the secondary market today and buy a weapon.”

Criminals are killing people,” the mayor added. “Not law-abiding gun owners.”

The gun control debate heightened last Friday when a gunman killed 20 children and six staff members at a Connecticut elementary school.

The shooter, Adam Lanza, allegedly killed his victims with guns purchased legally by his mother, officials said. Neighbors said Lanza had a personality disorder — which has also sparked a debate over mental health care in America.

“Listen to me, the people dying in Chicago, the people dying in Newark are not being done with law-abiding gun owners,” Booker continued. “We do not need to go after the guns. A law-abiding mentally stable American, that’s not America’s problem.”

You wouldn’t know it if you’ve been listening to the anti-gun juts lately.

    Mayor Booker,
My apologies to you for any less than kind thought I might have ever had towards you. Common sense prevails!
I am a gun owner and I am weary of the senseless tragedies such as Sandy Hook but you are absolutely correct. It’s the criminals. I will add though that I believe our permissive society shares part of the blame.

I hear he wants to run for the Senate in 2014. Frankly, his would be a great voice to have there.

If Mayor Booker keeps up with these common sense statements, he may well gather my interest for his run for a higher office. But, then if he keeps it up, he will be abandoned by his party.

Mr. Booker is quite good at getting his name in the headlines, and likes being perceived as iconoclastic.

    I would reserve judgment.

Reserving judgement on Mr. Booker. He has one hostage tape on record and since rumor has it that he will be running for office, another one might well follow this common sense statement.

    “Secondary market.” “No-fly list.”

Stop hearing what you want to hear and start listening to what he’s really saying. It’s brilliant politics — grab your goodies.
