Confirmed: Tebow Blew Up Twitter

It was one of those moments that you had to see. Then the reaction was to get everyone else’s reaction. All hell broke loose on Twitter last night as soon as Denver scored the now-famous touchdown, setting Tebow-mania off the charts. Even this grizzled Giants fan got in on the action.

Think you were the only one talking about Tim Tebow and the Broncos’ overtime win yesterday? Think again.

Following Tebow’s game-winning 80-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas in overtime against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Twitter users set a sports record by tweeting 9,420 times per second about the Broncos QB’s heroics.

No other event this year even came close to the volume of tweets Tebow and the Broncos did. The Royal Wedding (3,966), Bin Laden raid (5,106) & Steve Jobs’ death (6,049) were some of the events that Tebow topped last night, according to’s Darren Rovell.

    Acts 9:42
“This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.”

Unknown biblical prophecy: Joppa = Twitter

I took ‘Tebow’ in my fantasy twitter messaging league over ‘Roethlisberger’ and ‘Polamalu’. That was an easy win.

Twitter was nothing. The sports board (/sp/) at 4chan had dozens of Tebow threads which were updating so fast that they hit their length caps in less than a minute.
