Carnage in Chicagoland: Eight Dead, 43 Wounded in Weekend Shootings

Posted by on Jun 11, 2012 at 8:32 am

Sunday we noted the weekend bloodbath in Chicago and today the numbers are even more gruesome. You know, if we actually had a functioning President and Attorney General they might consider sending in the National Guard to help maintain order.

Eight people died — including a 16-year-old boy — and at least 43 others were wounded in weekend shootings across the city, Chicago police reported.

Joseph Briggs was the youngest to die in the weekend gun violence, just outside his Marquette Park home.

The 16-year-old was shot on his front porch in the 6100 block of South Rockwell, police said. Shots were fired from a gray vehicle about 8 p.m. Saturday, police said, adding that the shooting might be gang-related.

Briggs was pronounced dead at 1:40 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The teen’s grieving grandmother, who was raising him and his sisters, did not believe Briggs was the intended target. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, Josephine Briggs said.

She was appalled at the thought that he was struck down on the porch of his home.

The area has been like a shooting gallery of late — so much so, she had thought about relocating.

“There’s been a lot of shootings on this block,” Josephine Briggs said.“Once I bury him, I’m going to try and move,” she said.

The easygoing teen was a junior at Gage Park High School who enjoyed football and basketball.

“He [had] a nice personality. He always [was] smiling. Every time you see him he got a big smile on his face. He was just a happy grandson,” she said, lamenting that he’ll never realize his dream of going to college.

If people were actually concerned about saving lives they would consider voting Republican.  It worked in New York City when Rudy Giuliani was elected. But just keep voting Democrat folks, and watch the body count rise.

Remember those websites that chronicled the Iraq body count? They should consider doing the same for Chicago. Sadly, around the same number were killed or wounded in a mortar attack in Baghdad Sunday.

You know what might drive the message home that Chicago is a lawless wasteland? Mitt Romney should go there and call for federal intervention in order to save lives, while pointing the finger at Rahm Emanuel, Barack Obama and David Axelrod.

Wyoming has no-permit-required concealed carry, and exactly zer0 shootings this weekend. Of course, our demographics are a tad bit different too…

8 dead and 43 wounded in a gun free city… Brady Campaign hardest hit.
What’s their next plan to reduce gun violence in Chicago?

So, joining the Military may put you in harms way, just like sitting on your porch in any Dem controlled city. But at least you’ll learn life skills and a trade by joining up. Plus you will have a great resume’ and college assistance. Too bad this lad was too young. Where’s the Revs when ya need ’em?

Well, Chicago’s gun control isn’t very good. Out of 51 shot only 8 dead.

But one does wonder how they keep the numbers up with all the people evacuating the city. I read they were back down to their 1910 population with the refugees leaving over the last decade.

“police said, adding that the shooting might be gang-related.”

Chicago has a lot of minorities, and it has a lot of one particularly special minority. Violence is part of their culture. If you question their culture then you are disrespecting their culture and judging them and THAT’S RACIST!

I realize this is kind of strong, but…

Back in the 70s, the media would make a big deal out of police killing 4 or 5 people in South Africa. Meanwhile in Uganda, Idi Amin would be killing tens of thousands. The reason that apologists would give for not covering the obviously much more serious murders is that it was part of the culture for African warlords to be so heavy handed. We should expect more from the white, European colonists.

My white, Southern, racist friends would say the exact same thing except in a much more…direct…manner. “Just like a n****r”. Of course, one is politically correct, one isn’t, but they were both saying the exact same thing.

This weekend, 8 were killed and 43 wounded in Chicago. Jessie Jackson isn’t protesting. Al Sharpton isn’t marching anywhere. The media isn’t all up in arms about what some “white Hispanic” did.
What the media is telling us is that we shouldn’t be surprised when blacks kill blacks.

You know, “Just like a n****r”.

Not guns. Not race. Not location, but respect. Without respect there is nothing. Respect life? No. Respect laws? No. Respect your community? No. Why? Ever encroaching, never ending drumbeat of moral relativity. Beholding to a higher standard? If so you are mocked, attacked and or ignored. Who are you to tell me what to do? On and on. The blood flows and when it is questioned the answer is deflected or quickly interpreted as an act of racism or any number of ism’s that paint the questioner as the problem. As a Christian I have a core of beliefs to help reign in my passions. If God is not your choice, so be it. Try Ben Franklin: “Educate your children to self-control, to the habit of holding passion and prejudice and evil tendencies subject to an upright and reasoning will, and you have done much to abolish misery from their future and crimes from society.”
Nah, got to be the guns.
