Book Says Obama Deferred to Valerie Jarrett Over Whether To Go After bin Laden: ‘Obama feared taking responsibility’

Posted by on Aug 20, 2012 at 2:10 pm

About the only positive thing he campaigns on–going after bin Laden–is one big house of cards ready to crumble. Is this guy really such a pussy he deferred going after the world’s top terrorist and left the decision in the hands of Valerie Jarrett?

How pathetic.

The killing of bin Laden is at the centre of Obama’s re-election campaign and is likely to be highlighted yet again by his aides on the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks next month. Obama has already come under fire from former SEALs for trumpeting his role in the raid.

Until now, no one has claimed that he was reluctant even to launch it.

Miniter portrays Clinton as the main force behind killing bin Laden and contends that the prevaricating Obama has been in thrall to a number of dominant women – Clinton, top adviser Valerie Jarrett and his wife Michelle.

It was Jarrett, a long-time Chicago ally, he reports, who urged Obama to cancel the first three operations to kill bin Laden.

Miniter writes that Clinton’s alliances with Leon Panetta, then CIA director and now Pentagon chief, and David Petraeus, then head of US and Nato forces in Afghanistan and now at the helm at the CIA, were critical in bringing bin Laden to justice.

At the start of his presidency, Miniter writes, Obama was ‘studiously undecided’ about whether to kill the mastermind of 9/11.

‘He refused to weigh in or commit himself on even small matters related to a possible strike on bin Laden.’

C’mon, he was too busy preening, partying  and golfing to make such tough decisions.

He continues: ‘Obama was often disengaged as the bin Laden operation took shape; he left critical decisions to the then-CIA Director Leon Panetta, then-Secretary of Defence Robert Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

‘Obama feared taking responsibility for a risky raid that might go tragically wrong.’

Initially, Miniter writes, Obama deferred to Jarrett over whether to go after bin Laden.

‘Jarrett opposed the idea. She worried about a backlash against the president if the operation failed, or even if it succeeded. Clinton privately fumed about Jarrett’s relentless presence and her injection of political considerations at every turn.

This part is curious:

She knew her husband had paid a political price for failing to stop bin Laden before the September 11 attacks. She knew Obama’s presidency could be mortally wounded if he had bin Laden in his gun sights and didn’t fire.’

That might explain Sandy Berger, huh?

When a Clinton says you’re putting too much politics into a decision you’ve really got a problem.

Sandy Berger was removing more than evidence of Bill Clinton’s waffling that led to not hitting OBL. Sandy was removing the traces that showed that Hillary was Bill Clinton’s Valerie Jarrett!

    How about THEM apples!

The Mail reporter is wrong about no one suggesting before that Obama had passed on earlier opptys to kill Bin Laden. The account here closely corroborates the anonymous “White House insider” who said the exact same thing about Obama receding to Jarrett, and that was immediately after the raid.

Insider also had one more bombshell: that Obama never actually did give the go ahead, but was tricked by Panetta into giving a provisional go ahead that P then used to initiate the operation without Obama knowing, and he wasn’t called in from the golf course to give the final ok until it would have been an uncontainable scandal to pull back. Plausible that Hillary was working with P on this scheme, as he is a Clintonite.

That is why Obama will not get rid of Slow Joe Biden for Hillary Rodham. He resents having been manipulated into doing the right thing.

It’s like Obama had no executive leadership experience prior to becoming POTUS. Oh, wait, he didn’t…Sarah Palin was even more qualified for the nation’s top office.

God help us — and Israel! — if Iran comes to a head while that coward is still in the White House.

I believe this story totally, because it elucidates the famous picture of them all in the situation room, watcing the operation live- with all around the table like Panetta and Hillary with their laptops totally engaged, while the Prez sits in the corner looking like he doesn’t know quite what’s going on and wouuld certainly rather be somewhere else entirely. (Sorry Mr. President, that we had to interrupt your golf game for such a trivial event…)

Why is Valerie Jarrett in any position of power? Iranian-borne, but a US Citizen, what are her Quals? Tool and Wormtongue to the Ayers and Obama. Meh

the ulsterman report insider series makes clear the raid had nothing to do with obama/barry

yes he followed valerie jarrets orders

gates et al went around obama’s back as he couldnt commit and it made them sick already

also, obama the weak loser had a legal memo prepared that insulated him from any problems if it went wrong

so the ‘commander’ (a) refused to act, (b) was ignored by his forces who knew better than to listen to a commie muslim punk and his commie muslim iranian handler and (c) he legally detached himself from the effort

he is scum, all deception all the time

ps – he didnt even know it happened until after – the famous war room photo is a hoax

    obama/barry = little man scum

    he’s never told the truth
he’s an ‘agitator’ they just pit one side of the room against the other

his school records would bring down his presidency – foreign student teaching hard core commie black power alinsky shite

    hello november??

I had heard this story often before, that Obama was reluctant to give approval, because jarret was constantly giving political objections, and Panetta pushed him into final approval by putting him in a box where he would look like more of a fool if he didn’t give approval, and bin laden got away, than he would look a fool if the oeration failed. And even then I heard Obama structured his final approval, so he could blame the seals, and panetta if the operation failed. Typical of Obama, constant vacilation, and then when finally forced into a correct decision, he takes the credit for everything.

I had heard this a while back. Why is this not general public knowledge? Americans have a right to know. The episodes are consistent with BHO “absent” or “not present” throughout as a stae legislator or US Senator.

Jarrett and Obama didn’t want to kill OBL in May of 2011, they wanted to kill him around Halloween of 2012 to get a bump right before the election. That was why Jarrett was reportedly livid about the operation going forward when it did, and why Obama looks like someone shot his dog in the picture. His October Surprise was gone, like some kid stealing his hidden prize egg at the Easter egg hunt.

I posted a link on this for months, wondering why no-one was substantively picking up on it. The crucial detail – that even at the end, Panetta had to basically mount a ruse to get Obama to agree, is still being underemphasized.

Ah well – better late than never – better some of the story, than none of the story.
