Soaring gas prices in the New York City area reached nearly $4.50 a gallon yesterday as the Obama administration sought cover by opening up more areas of the Gulf of Mexico for drilling.

Prices have already reached $5 a gallon in California, and New Yorkers can expect the same by Memorial Day weekend, analysts say. The costs are the highest ever for this time of year and have risen 25 cents a gallon since January.
Republican Congress members have fanned out into their districts during the President’s Week recess with instructions from leadership to use high prices as a political club against President Obama’s re-election bid.
In 2007, when the average national price ranged from $2.17 to $3.22, then-Sen. Barack Obama demanded that the Federal Trade Commission investigate Big Oil for “price manipulation.” In 2008, presidential candidate Obama urged the Justice Department “to open an investigation into whether energy traders have been engaged in illegal activities that have helped drive up the price of oil and food.”
And the lamestream media covers for Barry but blaming external forces on the price increase instead of his failed enviro-nazi policies. When gas prices increased under Bush, price gouging, big oil, and Halliburton. Now, poor Barry has to deal with Iran, Syria, Egypt, and anything else to deflect blame on teflon-Barry.
There’s a deafening silence on the lack of drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. That’s because they left in droves while our idiot-in-chief violated a Federal judge’s order to allow more permits after the BP spill. Obambi just refused and those million dollar-a-day rigs left to make money elsewhere. Not to mention the support jobs that left with them.
How he thinks this charade can continue is beyond me.
Sooo his EPA, which has been held in comtempt of court twice for not issuing permits, will finally comply? How nice. How about making barry fill up AF1 for moochelles vacation next month? And there will be another vacay next month, of course. Then he can feel our pain.

This cannot be. My idiot leftist BiL said that “we can’t drill our way out”. So this cannot be happening.
A factor that gets little to no attention in the MSM is that refineries in the USA have been shutdown by the 0bama regime’s EPA. At least two refineries are shutting down permanently because of the draconian regulations demanded by the EPA. The others are shutting down to pay tens of millions to get marginal improvements to meet the EPA politburo’s demands. This is the reason that while a barrel of oil is not as high as 2008 (totally Bush’s fault!!111!!eleventy) the gas price is just as high is because of this.
Evidently 0bama thinks that the price of gas has risen slowly enough this time around. Let’s not forget that if we had started the drilling in ANWAR in 2007 we would probably be getting supply from there by now.
