Resist Paying Taxes We Much

Earlier this year we noted how Barack Obama’s good buddy, MSNBC star Al Sharpton, was $3.7 million in arrears to the IRS. Well, it doesn’t appear that his financial situation has improved much even though he’s got that gig at MSNBC, especially with his National Action Network.

The Rev. Al Sharpton’s nonprofit paid him nearly $242,000 — even as it carried $1.6 million in debt, according to documents obtained by The Post.

In all, the controversial activist and his empire, including the National Action Network and two for-profit companies, were $5.3 million in the red, public records show.

Most of NAN’s money woes stemmed from more than $880,000 in unpaid federal payroll taxes, interest and penalties. It also paid more than $100,000 to settle two lawsuits, byproducts of the unpaid bills.

And it still owed $206,252 in loans to Sharpton’s for-profit Bo-Spanky Consulting Inc. and Sharpton Media LLC, the records show.

Sharpton drew a $241,732 salary and perks that included first-class or charter air travel, tax filings show. He owes the IRS $2.6 million in income tax, and nearly $900,000 in state tax.

The defunct Rev-Al Communications Inc. owes the state almost $176,000, and Bo-Spanky is $3,500 behind on state-tax liens.

Sharpton has said he is on a repayment plan with state and federal-tax authorities.

NAN last year took in more than $3 million in donations, which allowed it to chip away at its tax burden. This year, its board of directors voted to resolve the tax issues and paid all back state taxes, said Executive Director Tamika Mallory.

The civil-rights group is also addressing the $883,503 it owes in federal payroll taxes, she added.

Sure they are. So why do we see stories like this every year?

Good thing he’s a Democrat kingmaker. Otherwise people might become suspicious.

Resist Paying Taxes We Must… Also, I would fix the first sentence.

Anyway, yeah. Al Sharpton doesn’t appear to trust the government with his money either. However we get called on it if we don’t pay on our share.

    Life isn’t fair.

    It is resist we “much.”

It’s a reference to a TV spot when Al was using the smarter end of his brain.

When I botch up the code in a Linux fortran program and the solution fails, where there should be a numerical value, the output is NAN. It looks like Little Al has a similar problem with NAN.

    @St marks

‘smarter’? Seems to me he’s pretty smart just how he is.

Using his soap box to eloquently pander to the voters’ base instincts, he’s created an environment in which he earns a quarter-mil a year. At least.

Just imagine what he’d be worth were we living in a world where he would have to, ya know, provide tangible *value* for his income. What do you think he’d be earning then?

Nah, this guy’s doing just fine in the brain dept. The job he built for himself – the job for which he gets paid for (which, lets face it, essentially is to instigate discourse for the sake of discourse) not only increases his sphere of influence but also fosters an environment in which he and his ilk are likely to get paid even more. It’s a cancerous approach to growth… and it works.

It works because he has followers. If anyone’s intelligence is to be scorned, I’d say its them. It’s cancerous because his agenda – if taken to its logical conclusion, will eat this country alive within the span of a generation.

He’s just one more, in a very long and growing line of liberals, practicing the do as I say, not as I do philosophy.

Limbaugh commented on his show a few weeks ago about the harassment he’s gotten from tax authorities in New York, now auditing him back some 7-8 years. He hasn’t lived in NYC in 3 years now.

    Yet Sharpton gets a pass?
