The most talked about moment from the debate was when Mitt Romney leaned towards Governor Perry and offered to bet him $10,000 over whether Mr. Romney had changed his position on health care between editions of his book.
Perry, who declined the bet, gave the following account, “I was taken a little aback. I’m driving out to the station this morning I’m pretty sure I didn’t drive by a house that anyone in Iowa would think a $10,000 bet was possible. It was a little out of touch with the normal Iowa citizen.”
On whether he is all in to win Iowa, Perry said he’s all in to win every state and added, “Retail politics and going out and sharing with the people of Iowa, our plan to get the country back working, how we’re going to balance the budget, how we’re going to overhaul Washington, D.C… And I can promise, the people of Iowa think that Washington is spending too much money.”
