The gay half-sister of the ex-House Speaker said Wednesday she’s going to stick with President Obama because of her sibling’s stance on same-sex marriage.
“He is definitely on the wrong side of history when it comes to those issues,” Candace Gingrich-Jones told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.
Gingrich-Jones, a gay rights activist at the Human Rights Campaign, said she and her half-brother are “mutually respectful” of each other, but she would “work really, really hard to make sure that President Obama is re-elected next year no matter who the Republican candidate is.”
Gingrich, who has surged ahead as a top-tier candidate, is known for his views against gay marriage.
“I believe that marriage is between a man and woman,” he told a crowd at Fort Dodge in Iowa in September. “It has been for all of recorded history.”
It’s not just this issue, but on pretty much any issue the media is going to brutalize Gingrich and make his 1995 anal exam seem like a walk in the park. They’ve got their marching orders: Destroy Gingrich at all costs.
We’re not allowed to mention Obama’s radical friends, but no stone will be left unturned in the media’s quest to re-anoint Obama.
Update: A commenter made a great point. Newt’s stepsister will be voting for Barack Obama, who’s also on record as being against gay marriage. Is she even aware of that?
Of course, Obama has the same stance on same sex marriage as Gingrich, but why would MSNBC point that out?

Is she his half-sister or his step-sister? Commenters are using both terms, and there is a huge difference in the two. A half-sister is actually related to him whereas a step-sister isn’t.

Newt’s half-sis is a hell of a guy. That he doesn’t know 0bama is on the record as opposed to homomatrimony ( which I don’t believe for a minute) is beside the point.
