Obama’s America: 49.1 Million Now in Poverty

Posted by on Nov 07, 2011 at 1:28 pm

Barack Obama’s transformational change is nearly complete.  We’re rapidly approaching 50 million people living in poverty with no sign of improvement anywhere to be seen. By the way, this new number of impoverished is an upward revision of a recent report.

New census estimates show the number of Americans living in poverty is higher than previously known — reaching a new level of 49.1 million, or 16 percent.

The numbers released Monday are a new supplemental poverty measure aimed at providing a fuller picture of poverty of America. They are higher than the official 2010 poverty rate of 15.1 percent, or a record 46.2 million, that was reported in September.

Much of the increase in the new measure comes from rising everyday costs, such as out-of-pocket medical expenses, that aren’t factored into the official rate. Americans 65 or older had the biggest poverty jump — 15.9 percent, versus 9 percent under the official formula.

Pocket change you can believe in. Can you just imagine stories like this being reported under a Republican administration and the president not even being mentioned?

The more people the Democratic Party can make dependent upon government handouts…the larger their constiuency will be. That seems to be the strategy they’ve been working on. If your government subsidy/stipend/handout depends upon having one party or the other in power…who you gonna vote for?

We’re not far behind Greece now…and there’s no one to bail us out…
