Mostly Peaceful Occupy Portland Anarchists Found With Body Armor and Machetes

You know, stuff like this could really give a black eye to the largely peaceful, “non-violent” movement. This and the hundreds of other criminal offenses.

Police have raided several Northeast Portland homes taken over by anarchists who claimed they were part of the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Police were tipped off about the situation Sunday. Responding officers found that the squatters had changed the locks on the homes.

Inside they found anarchist literature, drugs and weapons, including machetes.

“There’s the body armor in there, the bucket of projectiles: broken up concrete, rocks,” Portland Police Sgt. Jeff McDaniel told KGW. “There was some body-armor-type stuff for someone who might want to fight the police for one of the protests.”

But he explained that most of the protesters were non-violent.

“The sad thing is they’re trying to associate themselves with the Occupy movement, which has basically been peaceful,” he said. “But this clearly shows that [the anarchists] truly want to come down there and cause problems.”

I think we’ve also got a problem with mush-headed “thinking” by some police.

Meanwhile, via John E., we learn this movement that has swept the land now officially has its own political party.

C’mon, stop snickering. Their convention should be a hoot.

They can hook up with that Religion of Peace that the media keeps telling me not to worry about.

    chris – good one.

Is it really [mostly] peaceful, even w/o arms, to squat? Would it be mostly peaceful to steal somebody’s car?

How do anarchist make a living? Do they grow their own food or do they buy it with chunks of concrete?

    “Some body armor type stuff”?

I don’t take that very seriously, knowing PPD’s normal level of incompetence (and that of the local “news”).

I bet someone had a Flak jacket, or perhaps hockey armor.

(Checked the slideshow – yep. A single piece of hockey armor. And what appeared to be motorcycle armor, or just a funky leather jacket – it wasn’t clear.

If the stuff in the slideshow on the KGW site is the worst these guys had, they’re not a threat to anything.)

Dont necessarily blame the cop for this PC “mostly non-violent” BS. Portland has a leftist political leadership and culture. If he didn’t follow the party line he might have been discliplined for hate speech or some other PC offense.
