Mostly Peaceful 300-Pound DC Occupier Assaults Police and Vomits on Woman

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. For good measure, this mutant also used racial slurs and  assaulted the police.

He is the 99%.

A U.S. Park Police officer who authorities say was kicked in the groin during a skirmish at the Occupy DC encampment was in so much pain that he vomited at the scene and had to be taken to the hospital, according to charging documents released Friday.

James D. Ruffin, of Sandy Springs, Ga., faces charges of assaulting a police officer and assault with a dangerous weapon. He was ordered detained Friday until a Tuesday court hearing. His lawyer, Lisbeth Sapirstein, declined to comment.

Authorities say Ruffin kicked the officer in the groin as the officer and others were trying to subdue him and put him into a police car. Another officer sprained his vertebrae during the scuffle, the documents say.

The scuffle took place Thursday afternoon after Park Police came to McPherson Square, the site of the Occupy DC encampment, for a report of a man assaulting a woman inside a tent. The officers encountered a woman who pointed out Ruffin and told them that he had entered her tent, vomited and jumped on her and others inside.

Police say Ruffin refused to present identification, cursed and yelled racial slurs at officers, and refused to stand up to be arrested. He kicked at officers who attempted to place him in the cruiser, and once inside, kicked the rear car door and bent the door from the door frame, authorities said. Officers used a stun gun at one point to subdue him, according to the documents. Ruffin is described in court papers as 6 feet 3 inches tall and 300 pounds.

He was taken to George Washington University Hospital, where he was treated for high blood pressure, and the two injured officers were also taken to the hospital. The officer who was kicked in the groin still has swelling and pain in the area, police say.

The Occupy DC encampment has had a largely peaceful co-existence with police throughout the fall, though fissures in the relationship have emerged in recent weeks.

Largely peaceful. Except for the vomiting, assaults and racial slurs.

Tim Blair has an Occupy roundup. Let’s hope Santa leaves coal in their stockings.

Ummm, OK, I generally like your takedowns of these creeps, but in this case it was the police officer that vomited, not the occu-tard.

Ummm, OK, I guess you missed this part:

“The officers encountered a woman who pointed out Ruffin and told them that he had entered her tent, vomited and jumped on her and others inside.”

Is there any guy here who wouldn’t have ruled the officer justified in shooting this creep?

When taking large game such as this it is advisable to use a tranquilizer gun first…

Great, @Drumwaster, that would make him the real-life continuation of the Skyrim meme:

“I used to be a member of #Occupy, until I took a bullet to the knee.”

Definitely love the “mostly peaceful” addition… I wonder why all AP stories don’t get this.

There was a string of “mostly peaceful” home invasions last week. Two of the home invaders killed and raped a family as the other 4 simply looted the house.

There have been some unrest lately from these mostly peaceful home invaders; but for the most part they haven’t engaged in excessive violence.

What? That follows the same writing and logical flow as the articles about the Occupy movement. I’d love to hear of the “mostly peaceful” drive-by shootings and gang violence as well.

So long as a simple majority of them weren’t directly provably involved in violence it’s “mostly peaceful” right?

Or do they only write this stupidly for liberal protests?

Interesting that the guy is from Sandy Springs. That’s the town that basically got rid of most of their government employees and outsourced nearly everything. They have pretty close to zero outstanding obligations. Interesting story. That town is mostly Republicans.
