Can’t say this is a surprise to anyone.
Shortly before dawn, after most of the police had left, a few dozen protesters were celebrating their continued presence along the Embarcadero.
“They need to understand that we just get stronger with every raid,” said Alex Stevenson, 19.
Corriea would not comment on a possible plaza raid, saying his job was only to dismantle the Bridge. He said police had been asking protesters for several days to leave the space in front of One Market because the camp encroached on the sidewalk.
Several protesters expressed disbelief that police would raid the camp the morning they were to meet with Mayor Ed Lee, who said Tuesday that he was disturbed by unsanitary conditions at the camp. Among other concerns is the spread of dog diseases and a flea infestation, officials said.
Still, Jae Sohn, 33, said he planned on asking the mayor, “What the heck?”
“This was just a test of our wits,” he said. “We will regroup. We have regrouped.”
I notice no matter where you go they’re all babbling about how much stronger they’re getting.
